Floreat Athena Football Club is an association football (soccer) club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club competes in the National Premier Leagues Western Australia. The club's founders were of Greek heritage. Floreat Athena has been crowned the Western Australian State Champions five times, League Premiers seven times, State Cup Winners eight times, and Night Series Champions nine times. In 1997, the club won all three trophies to claim its first ever treble. History Early years The club was formed in 1951 as the Athena Club by Greek-Australians as place for the local Greek community to unite around football. 2020 Football West Season
The 2020 Football West season was the seventh season since the National Premier Leagues was established in Western Australia. All NPL and grassroots competitions were suspended for one month due to the impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia, effective 18 March to 14 April, and further extended until early July. The NPL, NPL Women's and Men's State League competitions resumed from 3 July, with grassroots football having recommenced from 21 June. Pre-season changes League Tables 2020 National Premier Leagues WA Only the first round of the double round-robin season was played before the competition was suspended due to restrictions relating to the coronavirus pandemic. Ludovic Boi (born 27 March 1989) is a Mauritian-Australian footballer who plays in the Football West State League for Floreat Athena. Perry Lakes Stadium
Perry Lakes Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium adjacent to Perry Lakes in Floreat, Western Australia. It was built and funded by the State Government and the City of Perth in 1962 for the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games and had a nominal capacity of 30,000. Many other events had been held at Perry Lakes Stadium over the years such as the athletics, soccer and rugby. It has been redeveloped into a residential site and the facility has been replaced by the Western Australian Athletics Stadium, which was constructed on the southern side of Underwood Avenue, which opened nearby in March 2009. Wellington Square is a public park located on Wellington Street in the suburb of East Perth in Perth, Western Australia. History The park was originally a swamp and was drained in the 1830s. It was originally used to exercise horses. The ground was known as the Recreation Ground or the "Rec".
