The Flint United are a professional basketball team in Flint, Michigan, and members of The Basketball League (TBL). History On September 18, 2020, it was announced that Flint, Michigan would be awarded a franchise for the upcoming 2021 TBL season. The team is owned by Flint native Kevin Mays, who has experience in sports marketing and development, among different organizations. Mays played a key role for two successful Flint sports franchises: the Flint Firebirds and the Flint City Bucks. Flint native Matt Washington was named the team's general manager. The Flint Firebirds are a major junior ice hockey team based in Flint, Michigan. The team plays home games at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center, and operates as a member of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The team began play for the 2015–16 season. Flint City Bucks is an American soccer team based in Flint, Michigan, United States. Founded in 1995, the team plays in USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. Charlie Will Bell III (born March 12, 1979) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is the head coach of Flint United of The Basketball League (TBL). He played college basketball for Michigan State, and then played parts of 8 seasons in the NBA.
