Fleming and John is a musical husband and wife team, Fleming McWilliams and John Mark Painter, currently living in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. The couple met while attending Belmont University in Nashville, and immediately began collaborating on songs. While pursuing a record contract, Painter began playing in studio sessions for artists like dc Talk, Sixpence None the Richer, Indigo Girls, Jars of Clay, Nanci Griffith, and Jewel. In 1994, the band recorded "Harder to Believe than Not To" for '' I Predict A Clone'', a tribute album to Steve Taylor. The following year, the couple released their first album, ''Delusions of Grandeur'' on Universal Records. Ben Folds, who called Fleming and John "the Carpenters of the 1990s with Led Zeppelin's rhythm section", invited them to open for his band. ''The Way We Are'' is an album by Fleming and John, released on February 23, 1999 by Universal Records. Reception Daniel J. Katz reviewed the album for the student newspaper '' The Tech'' and opined: "The first thing to get used to is Fleming's screeching soprano voice", which he compared to " Bjork covering Veruca Salt in a charming way". Katz called ''The Way We Are'' "eclectic without being burdensome and entertaining without being shallow", and considered "The Pearl", "Sadder Day", and "Comfortable" to be standout tracks. ''7ball'' is a discontinued Christian music magazine, first published in 1995. They focused on rock, hip-hop, and other "alternative" forms of Christian music. Fear of Pop is the name of an experimental recording project by Ben Folds (of Ben Folds Five) and Caleb Southern (Ben Folds Five's long-time producer), along with John Mark Painter (of Fleming and John), William Shatner and others. Their only album '' Volume 1'' was released in 1998.
