Charles Browne Fleet
Charles Browne Fleet (September 18, 1843 – May 12, 1916) was a pharmacist and inventor of the laxative and chapstick. His company, C.B. Fleet, was founded in Lynchburg, Virginia, and still operates producing laxatives, douches, micro-enemas, and other products of the sort. A native of King and Queen County, Virginia, Fleet studied at Columbian College until the advent of the American Civil War, at which point he enlisted in the Confederate Army. He then moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, living there for a time before moving to Lynchburg. Weymouth And Melcombe Regis (UK Parliament Constituency)
Weymouth and Melcombe Regis was a parliamentary borough in Dorset represented in the English House of Commons, later in that of Great Britain, and finally in the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It was formed by an Act of Parliament of 1570 which amalgamated the existing boroughs of Weymouth and Melcombe Regis. Until 1832, the combined borough continued to elect the four Members of Parliament (MPs) to which its constituent parts had previously been entitled; the Great Reform Act reduced its representation to two Members, and the constituency was abolished altogether in 1885, becoming part of the new South Dorset constituency. Stephen Fleet
Stephen George Fleet (28 September 1936 – 18 May 2006) was a Master of Downing College, Cambridge, the Cambridge University Registrary and a researcher in mineral sciences and crystallography. Stephen Fleet was educated at Brentwood School, Essex, Lewes County Grammar School, Sussex and St John's College, Cambridge, where he received his doctorate. His research fields were the crystal structure of minerals, particularly phase transformations in minerals and meteorites. In 1963 Fleet moved to Fitzwilliam House and was a founding fellow when Fitzwilliam achieved collegiate status in 1966. In 1974 he moved to Downing College as bursar and fellow and later served the college as Vice-Master (1985–1987, 1991–1994 and 1997–2000) and as Master from 2000 to 2003. Preston Mitchell Fleet (February 26, 1934 – January 31, 1995), nicknamed Sandy, was the founder of Fotomat. Fotomat was a once-widespread retail chain of photo development drive-thru kiosks located in shopping center parking lots. He was a son of aerospace pioneer Reuben H. Fleet. Fleet co-founded WD-40 in 1953, then went on to co-found Fotomat in San Diego, California, in 1965; the first kiosk was opened in Point Loma in 1965). The company went public in 1971 and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 1977. At its peak around 1980 there were over 4,000 Fotomats throughout the United States, primarily in suburban areas. Fotomats were distinctive for their pyramid-shaped gold-colored roofs and signs with red-lettering, usually positioned in a large parking area such as a supermarket or strip mall, as the Fotomat huts required a minimal amount of land and were able to accommodate cars driving up to drop off or pick up film. Larry Fleet is an American country music singer. Signed to Big Loud in 2019, he has released three albums and three singles. Biography Larry Fleet was born and raised in White Bluff, Tennessee. His great grandfather and great-uncle had a bluegrass band called the Happy Two which he joined when he was six years old. His great-uncle taught him how to play guitar and fiddle. Throughout 2009 & 2010, Larry Fleet played almost every Friday night at The Wet Bar in Dickson, TN as well as at a bar called Evolutions. It was in these two venues that Larry really developed and matured as an artist. Later, he chose to move to Nashville, Tennessee in pursuit of a country music career. In 2017, country singer Jake Owen discovered Fleet performing cover songs at a wedding, and booked him as an opening act. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1987 to 1990 who represented the riding of High Park-Swansea. John Fleet (Lord Mayor)
Sir John Fleet (1648 – 6 July 1712) was an English merchant who served as Lord Mayor of London, Lord Mayor, Sheriff of London, Sheriff and MP for City of London (UK Parliament constituency), London. He was born the son of innkeeper Richard Fleet of Bourton, Buckinghamshire and entered the London cooping trade, progressing later to setting himself up as a sugar merchant. In 1689 he was elected Master of the Worshipful Company of Coopers, Coopers' company, in 1693 Master of the Worshipful Company of Grocers, Grocers' company and in 1688 an alderman of the City of London. He was elected Sheriff of London for the year 1688-89 and in 1692 elected Lord Mayor of London. He was knighted in 1688.
