Flaminio is the 1st ''quartiere'' of the Italian capital Rome. Identified by the initials Q. I, it belongs to the Municipio II and has 13,018 inhabitants(Stand 31. December 2006) and an area of 1.1877 km². The name is derived from the Via Flaminia. Flaminio – Piazza Del Popolo (Rome Metro)
Flaminio–Piazza del Popolo is an underground station on Line A of the Rome Metro, inaugurated in 1980. The station is situated on the large Piazzale Flaminio, in the Flaminio quarter outside the Aurelian Walls, next to Piazza del Popolo, and is near the Campus Martius. A tram (line 2) connects the Piazzale Flaminio to the Stadio Flaminio, the Auditorium at the Parco della Musica, the Palazzetto of the Sport and the Stadio Olimpico. The entrance hall of the station accommodates some mosaics of the Rome Artemetro Prize, created by Paul D' Orazio and Lee Doo Shik. Flaminio is also the Rome terminus of the Rome–Civitacastellana–Viterbo railway, on which suburban services run through the Rome outskirts to Viterbo. Rignano Flaminio
Rignano Flaminio is a '' comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Rome in the Italian region Latium, about north of Rome. It is across the Via Flaminia. Rignano Flaminio borders the municipalities of Calcata, Capena, Civitella San Paolo, Faleria, Magliano Romano, Morlupo, and Sant'Oreste. It has a station on the Roma-Viterbo railway. History Agricultural settlements of the Capenati and Falisci in the area are attested from the 5th or 4th centuries BC. In the 6th century AD a popular pilgrimage church, entitled to St. Abondius and Abondantius, was created here; the saints' relics were moved to Rome, on the Tiber Island, in 999. Stadio Flaminio
The Stadio Flaminio is a stadium in Rome. It lies along the Via Flaminia, three kilometres northwest of the city centre, 300 metres away from the Parco di Villa Glori. The interior spaces include a covered swimming pool, rooms for fencing, amateur wrestling, weightlifting, boxing and gymnastics. History Pier Luigi Nervi designed the Flaminio Stadium with his son, the architect Antonio Nervi, between 1957 and 1958. The structure was built for the XVII Olympic Games in Rome (1960) and inaugurated in 1959. The Stadio Flaminio was built on the site of the previous Stadio Nazionale PNF. It was mostly devoted to football matches and served as the venue for the football final in the 1960 Summer Olympics.
