The flag of Dominica was adopted on 3 November 1978, with some small changes having been made in 1981, 1988, and 1990. The original flag was designed by playwright Alwin Bully in early 1978 as the country prepared for independence. It is one of only three national flags (the other two being El Salvador and Nicaragua) that currently use purple. Coat Of Arms Of Dominica
The coat of arms of Dominica was adopted on July 21, 1961. It consists of a shield with two guardian sisserou parrots bracing the shield atop of which is a lion passant. The quarters of the shield depict a canoe, a banana tree, a palm and a frog of the native species known as the mountain chicken. Below the shield is the national motto: Apres Bondie C'est La Ter (After God the Earth). Saint Mark Parish, Dominica
Saint Mark is one of Dominica's ten administrative parishes (Dominica is in the Lesser Antilles). It is bordered by St. Luke (to the north) and St. Patrick (to the east).
