Flag Of Ust-Orda Buryat Okrug
The flag of Ust-Orda Buryat Okrug, in the Russian Federation, is a blue field charged with a white '' argabar'' sun emblem within a golden disc. The disc is surrounded with four golden bezants at the cardinal positions. At the bottom of the flag is a white band charged with a red ''meander'' ornament, which symbolizes the lifestyle in the past and a prosperous future for the Buryat tribes. The blue symbolizes the sky. The white symbolizes cleaness and the heavens. The red symbolizes bravery, fire, warmth, the sun, and blood. The gold symbolizes the light of the sun, richness, and happiness. An earlier design was adopted on July 17, 1997 which consisted of a green field. The field was changed to blue on September 18 of that same year. The proportions are 2:3. Charge (heraldry)
In heraldry, a charge is any emblem or device occupying the field of an '' escutcheon'' (shield). That may be a geometric design (sometimes called an '' ordinary'') or a symbolic representation of a person, animal, plant, object, building, or other device. In French blazon, the ordinaries are called ''pièces'', and other charges are called ''meubles'' (" hemobile nes). The term ''charge'' can also be used as a verb; for example, if an escutcheon depicts three lions, it is said to be ''charged with three lions''; similarly, a crest or even a charge itself may be "charged", such as a pair of eagle wings ''charged with trefoils'' (as on the coat of arms of Brandenburg). It is important to distinguish between the ordinaries and divisions of the field, as that typically follow similar patterns, such as a shield ''divided'' "per chevron", as distinct from being ''charged with'' a chevron. While thousands of objects found in religion, nature, mythology, or technology have appeared in ...

Meander (art)
__NOTOC__ A meander or meandros ( el, Μαίανδρος) is a decorative border constructed from a continuous line, shaped into a repeated motif. Among some Italians, these patterns are known as "Greek Lines". Such a design also may be called the Greek fret or Greek key design, although these terms are modern designations even though the decorative motif appears thousands of years before that culture, thousands of miles away from Greece, and among cultures that are continents away from it. Usually the term is used for motifs with straight lines and right angles and the many versions with rounded shapes are called running scrolls or, following the entomological origin of the term, may be identified as water wave motifs. On one hand, the name "meander" recalls the twisting and turning path of the Maeander River in Asia Minor (present day Turkey) that is typical of river pathways. On another hand, as Karl Kerenyi pointed out, "the meander is the figure of a labyrinth in linear ...
