Fjeldeventyret
''Fjeldeventyret'' (The Mountain Story) is a Norwegian film from 1927 based on Henrik Anker Bjerregaard's play of the same name from 1824. The film is a romantic drama. It was directed by Leif Sinding. Plot Mons Østmoe wants to move up in the world by marrying Marie, the daughter of his uncle the bailiff, and becoming the village's new bailiff. He mistakenly arrests three students in the belief that they are wanted robbers. The three students surrender in the hope that the trial will become a farce. It turns out that one of those arrested, Albek, is Marie's secret fiancé and the judge's nephew. To avoid scandal, the bailiff allows Albek to marry his daughter. Mons must therefore settle for the bailiff's niece Ragnhild. Leif Sinding
Leif Sinding (19 November 1895 – 13 May 1985) was a Norwegian film director and journalist. He worked for the newspapers ''Verdens Gang'', ''Aftenposten'', and ''Morgenbladet''. Among his silent films are ''Himmeluret'' from 1925, based on Gabriel Scott's comedy, and ''Fjeldeventyret'' from 1926. He directed the film ''Bra mennesker'' (1937), based on a play by Oskar Braaten, and the films ''De vergeløse'' (1939) and ''Tante Pose'' (1940), both based on novels by Gabriel Scott. In 1941 he directed the comedy '' Kjærlighet og vennskap''. During the German occupation of Norway Sinding collaborated with the Axis forces, was a member of Nasjonal Samling, and was sentenced to four years forced labour after the war. Ellen Sinding
Ellen Sinding (born ''Ellen Buttedahl''; April 17, 1899 – April 18, 1980) was a Norwegian actress and dancer. Sinding was born in Haugesund, the daughter of the actor and sculptor Sæbjørn Buttedahl and the actress Clare Petrea Margrethe Benelli (1871–1933). She debuted as an actress in 1922 in the film '' Kjærlighet paa pinde''. During the 1920s, Sinding also appeared in the films ''Til sæters'' (1924), '' Den nye lensmannen'' (1926), and '' Fjeldeventyret'' and '' Syv dage for Elisabeth'' (both in 1927). Ulf Selmer
Ulf Selmer (December 10, 1885 – September 24, 1961) was a Norwegian actor and painter. Selmer was the son of the actor Jens Selmer (1845–1928) at the Christiania Theater and his wife, the actress Eleonora Josephine Nielsen (1850–1930), whose stage name was Leonora Selmer. Selmer debuted at the Central Theater in 1904; he was in the National Tour () traveling ensemble of Ludovica Levy (1856–1922) for one year before he was at the Fahlstrøm Theater for one year. In 1911 he moved to the newly opened Trondheim National Theater, where he remained until 1918. This was followed by three years at Chat Noir and one year at the National Theatre in Oslo before he returned to the Central Theater, where he celebrated the fortieth year of his acting career in 1944. His last appearance on stage was around 1954. He helped shape Norwegian film from the silent film era to more modern films in the mid-1950s. Haakon Hjelde
Haakon Forsell Hjelde (February 12, 1902 – December 10, 1933) was a Norwegian actor. He also worked as a director's assistant and production manager's assistant. As a young man, he traveled to Berlin and then to Paris, where he lived and starred in several French films. He died of tuberculosis at age 31. Family Hjelde was born in Eidsvoll, Norway, the son of the veterinarian Baard Arne Hjelde (1872–1935) and Alma Forsell Jensen (1871–1918). He married the Swedish dancer Maina Claes in 1929. Henrik Anker Bjerregaard
Henrik Anker Bjerregaard (1 January 1792 – 7 April 1842) was a Norwegian poet, dramatist and judge. Born in Ringsaker to Mads Bjerregard and Alet Ørtlien, he grew up in Vågå from the age of eight. He studied at the University of Copenhagen, but returned to Norway in 1814 and graduated from the Royal Frederick University with the cand.jur. degree in 1815. He climbed the career ladder as a jurist, was a solicitor and chief justice in the diocesan court of Christiania before being appointed as a Supreme Court Assessor in 1830. He remained in this position until his death. Bjerregaard was also a prominent lyricist. Together with Conrad Nicolai Schwach and Maurits Hansen he was among the most important lyricists after Norway's independence in 1814, in the generation before Henrik Wergeland and Johan Sebastian Welhaven. The National Library of Norway ( no, Nasjonalbiblioteket) was established in 1989. Its principal task is "to preserve the past for the future". The library is located both in Oslo and in Mo i Rana.
