Fishtank Interactive
Fishtank Interactive was a German publishing label and was a division of Ravensburger Spieleverlag's Ravensburger Interactive. It was founded in 2000 to try to expand the horizons of Ravensburger Spieleverlag by publishing more mature games than the rest of the mostly pre-school oriented games of the company, without sullying its reputation. Its releases were usually action games, or real-time strategies, and were known for low production values highlighted by the lack of important features like multi-player playability. The division alongside its parent were sold in May 2002 to JoWooD Productions. Ravensburger AG is a German game and toy company, publishing house and market leader in the European jigsaw puzzle market. ''Etherlords'' (russian: Демиурги) is a series of fantasy turn-based strategy and card-dueling video games for the PC, by Russian developer Nival Interactive. The first game was published November 15, 2001 by Ravensburger Interactive Media under their mature game label Fishtank Interactive. Prior to worldwide release it was released in Russia (November 9, 2001) as ''Demiurges'' (russian: Демиурги). It was followed two years later by a sequel, ''Etherlords II'', which was published in Europe by DreamCatcher Interactive and in North America by Strategy First. A third game for the iOS and Android was released in 2014 titled ''Etherlords''. It's a free-to-play game with automated battles. The game features a card-based dueling system that borrows heavily from ''Magic: The Gathering''. ''Car Tycoon'' is a business simulation game that was released on January 5, 2003 by JoWooD Productions under the Fishtank Interactive brand name. It was the first major game by the developer, German studio Vectorcom Development, and sees the player managing a company that develops and manufactures cars. Bugs The game was plagued by bugs from the start. Initially, the player could not save games. Eventually a patch was released that fixed this and a few other bugs, but the game still wasn't entirely bug-free. Numerous bugs were never addressed, such as one related to the "big customers". In the game, the player is able to make offers to various local businesses requiring vehicles. The premise is to give the player another way to sell his or her cars. ''Beam Breakers'' is a racing game released in 2002. It was published by JoWooD Productions and developed by Similis. The game takes place in the year 2173. It features flying cars in the city of New York. Gameplay The highways of New York City are teeming with illegal rush-hour grave-racers. Bad racers end up scraped off the side of skyscrapers while good ones build reputations that some would literally kill for. This is no pedestrian street race scene. It's a contest of minds where confidence, control and a taste for razor's-edge maneuvers separate the original gangsters of the skies from the wannabes and has-been. ''Beam Breakers'' has five cities in 57-mission campaigns. The player has to dodge flying cars and avoid getting caught by the flying police cars.
