Fishguard And Goodwick RFC
Fishguard and Goodwick Rugby Football Club (Welsh: Clwb Abergwaun ac Wdig) is a Welsh rugby union team from Fishguard which also represents the town of Goodwick in South-west Wales. Fishguard and Goodwick RFC is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Scarlets. The club fields a First XV, youth team and junior sides. Club history A rugby union team has played in the Fishguard and Goodwick area since the first decade of the twentieth century, with the earliest photo showing a Goodwick Rugby Football team from the 1907/08 season. However, the first Fishguard team was formed sometime in 1887 during the 1887/1888 season. Rugby football was suspended during both World Wars, but by the 1950s a joint Fishguard and Goodwick team was reformed and playing in minor leagues against local opposition, with their traditional rivals being St. Davids RFC. Fishguard
Fishguard ( cy, Abergwaun, meaning "Mouth of the River Gwaun") is a coastal town in Pembrokeshire, Wales, with a population of 3,419 in 2011; the community of Fishguard and Goodwick had a population of 5,407. Modern Fishguard consists of two parts, Lower Fishguard and the "Main Town". Fishguard and Goodwick are twin towns with a joint Town Council. Lower Fishguard is believed to be the site of the original hamlet from which modern Fishguard has grown. It is in a deep valley where the River Gwaun meets the sea, hence the Welsh name for Fishguard. It is a typical fishing village with a short tidal quay. The settlement stretches along the north slope of the valley. Goodwick
Goodwick (; cy, Wdig) is a coastal town in Pembrokeshire, Wales, immediately west of its twin town of Fishguard. Fishguard and Goodwick form a community that wraps around Fishguard Bay. As well as the two towns, it consists of Dyffryn, Stop-and-Call, Harbour Village, Lower Town, and Penyraber. A Goodwick electoral ward exists covering the town with a total population of 1,988 at the 2011 census. Scarlets
The Scarlets () are one of the four professional Welsh rugby union teams and are based in Llanelli, Wales. Their home ground is the Parc y Scarlets stadium. They play in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup (which replaced the Heineken Cup from the 2014–15 season). WRU Division Five West
The Welsh Rugby Union Division Five West (also called the SWALEC Division Five West for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby union league in Wales first implemented for the 1995/96 season. Competition format and sponsorship Competition There are 11 clubs in the WRU Division Five West. During the course of a season (which lasts from September to May) each club plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents for a total of 20 games for each club, with a total of 110 games in each season. The WRU Challenge Cup (currently known as the Specsavers Cup due to sponsorship), or its full name of the Welsh Rugby Union Challenge Cup, is Wales' premier knockout rugby union competition and is organised by the Welsh Rugby Union.
