Fish Marketing Organisation
The Fish Marketing Organisation (FMO, ) is a statutory body of Hong Kong, administered by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department"Marine Fish Wholesale Marketing"/ref> The Fish Marketing Organisation was established as a self-financing non-profit-making organisation under the Marine Fish (Marketing) Ordinance, Cap 291 to provide wholesale marketing services through the operation of wholesale fish markets. Wholesale fish markets The FMO operates seven wholesale fish markets in Aberdeen, Shau Kei Wan, Kwun Tong, Cheung Sha Wan, Castle Peak (Tuen Mun), Tai Po and Sai Kung. Schools The Fish Marketing Organisation was historically also operating schools for the children of fishermen. The first such schools were established by the FMO in 1947 and 1948. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (; formerly the Agriculture and Fisheries Department () before 2000, of the Hong Kong Government is responsible for agriculture and fisheries in Hong Kong, conservation projects and issues, and managing the country parks and special areas. Aberdeen, Hong Kong
Aberdeen () is an area on southwest Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. Administratively, it is part of the Southern District. While the name "Aberdeen" could be taken in a broad sense to encompass the areas of Aberdeen (town), Wong Chuk Hang, Ap Lei Chau, Tin Wan, Wah Kwai Estate and Wah Fu Estate, it is more often used to refer to the town only. Shau Kei Wan or Shaukiwan is a neighborhood in the Eastern District of Hong Kong Island. The area is bordered by Chai Wan to the east, Mount Parker to the south, Sai Wan Ho to the west, and Victoria Harbour to the north. Kwun Tong is an area in the Kwun Tong District of Hong Kong, situated at the eastern part of the Kowloon Peninsula, and its boundary stretches from Lion Rock in the north to Lei Yue Mun in the south, and from the winding paths of Kowloon Peak in the east to the north coast of the former Kai Tak Airport runway in the west. Cheung Sha Wan
Cheung Sha Wan is an area between Lai Chi Kok and Sham Shui Po in New Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is mainly residential to the north and south, with an industrial area in between. Administratively it is part of Sham Shui Po District, which also includes Lai Chi Kok. History As its Chinese name suggests, it was formerly a bay with a long sandy beach. It spans roughly from today's Butterfly Valley Road at the west to Yen Chow Street at the east. The beach was a gathering place for many Tanka fishermen before its development. Tuen Mun
Tuen Mun or Castle Peak is an area near the mouth of Tuen Mun River and Castle Peak Bay in the New Territories, Hong Kong. It was one of the earliest settlements in what is now Hong Kong and can be dated to the Neolithic period. In the more recent past, it was home to many Tanka fishermen who gathered at Castle Peak Bay. Tai Po is an area in the New Territories of Hong Kong. It refers to the vicinity of the traditional market towns in the area presently known as Tai Po Old Market or Tai Po Kau Hui () (the original "Tai Po Market") on the north of Lam Tsuen River and the Tai Po Hui (the current Tai Po Market; historically Tai Wo Shi, literally ''Tai Wo market'') on Fu Shin Street on the south of the Lam Tsuen River, near the old Tai Po Market railway station of the Kowloon-Canton Railway (British Section). Castle Peak (Hong Kong)
Castle Peak (, sometimes transcribed Tsing Shan) or Pui To Shan () is a 583-metre (1,913-feet)-high peak in western New Territories, Hong Kong. In contrast to its Chinese name, which means green hill, Castle Peak is notorious for its severe loss of vegetation and weathering of its granite surface.
