Firstline
''Firstline'' was a New Zealand morning news programme produced by ''3 News ''Newshub'' (stylised as ''Newshub.'') is a New Zealand news service that airs on the television channels Three and Eden, as well as on digital platforms. It formerly operated across radio stations run by MediaWorks Radio until December 202 ...'', the news division of TV3. The show was cancelled in April 2015 and was replaced by '' Paul Henry'', a new multi-platform show with Paul Henry at the helm. The two-and-a-half-hour programme, designed to compete with TVNZ's '' Breakfast'', first went to air on 7 March 2011. It was hosted by Rachel Smalley until mid-2013, after which the host's seat rotated amongst other ''3 News'' presenters. From January 2014, Sacha McNeil and Michael Wilson presented the show. ''Newshub'' (stylised as ''Newshub.'') is a New Zealand news service that airs on the television channels Three and Eden, as well as on digital platforms. It formerly operated across radio stations run by MediaWorks Radio until December 2021. The Newshub brand replaced ''3 News'' service on the TV3 network and the Radio Live news service heard on MediaWorks Radio stations on 1 February 2016. In late 2020, MediaWorks sold Newshub to US multimedia company Discovery, Inc. (now Warner Bros. Discovery) The acquisition was completed on 1 December 2020. Its final lineup consisted of host Paul Henry, news anchor Ingrid Hipkiss, sports anchor Jim Kayes and social media anchor Verity Johnson. ''Breakfast'' (also referred to as ''1 News Breakfast'') is a New Zealand morning news and talk show airing weekday mornings on TVNZ 1, produced by 1 News. Debuting on 11 August 1997, it was the first of its genre in New Zealand. It contains a mixture of breaking news, news, sport, weather and feature items. Originally a two-hour programme, it was expanded to three hours in 2012. It is currently presented by Jenny-May Clarkson, Matty Mclean, Chris Chang and Anna Burns-Francis. Rachel Smalley
Rachel Smalley is a New Zealand television and radio journalist and presenter. From 2013 to 2017 she hosted ''Early Edition'' every weekday morning on Newstalk ZB and wrote regular columns for ''The New Zealand Herald''. Early life Smalley grew up in rural Canterbury and received her secondary education from Lincoln High School, where she graduated in 1987 (sixth form). Career After graduating from Wellington Polytechnic, Smalley began her career in radio journalism with Newstalk ZB before moving to TV3. Smalley moved to the UK and worked for Sky News. She later became the MediaWorks Europe correspondent for a time before returning to New Zealand to host TV3's ''Nightline''. In 2011 Smalley began fronting the station's breakfast programme ''Firstline''. She also hosted weekly politics and current affairs programme ''The Nation''. Three ( mi, Toru), stylized as +HR=E, is a New Zealand nationwide television channel. Launched on 26 November 1989 as TV3, it was New Zealand's first private broadcasting, privately owned television channel. The channel currently broadcasts nationally (with regional advertising targeting four markets) in digital free-to-air form via the state-owned Kordia on terrestrial and satellite. Vodafone also carries the channel for their cable subscribers in Wellington and Christchurch. It previously broadcast nationally on analogue television until that was switched off on 1 December 2013.
