The date and program of the first interracial kiss on television is a much debated topic. In many parts of the world social stigma and legislation (such as anti-miscegenation laws) have hindered Interracial marriage, relations between people from different groups (Race (human categorization), races). The first kiss on television has been discussed in the context of this social stigma. As there is no agreement on Race (human categorization)#Defining race, what constitutes a race there is also no general agreement on when the first interracial kiss occurred and a number of claims exist. ''Sea Hunt'' is an American action adventure television series that aired in syndication from 1958 to 1961 and was popular for decades afterwards. The series originally aired for four seasons, with 155 episodes produced. It stars Lloyd Bridges as former Navy diver Mike Nelson, and was produced by Ivan Tors.
