First Sjahrir Cabinet
The first Sjahrir Cabinet ( id, Kabinet Sjahrir Pertama) was the second Indonesian cabinet, named after the Prime Minister. It served from November 1945 to February 1946. Background The first Sjahrir cabinet was established following the 11 November 1945 demand from the Central Indonesian National Committee, which was the ''de facto'' legislature, that the cabinet be responsible to it, not to President Sukarno. The existing cabinet was dismissed and Sutan Sjahrir was asked to become prime minister. He agreed to do so on the condition he was allowed to select his own cabinet. Martinus Putuhena
Martinus Putuhena (27 May 1901 – 20 September 1982) was an Indonesian engineer and politician. He was the Minister of Public Works under Sutan Sjahrir during the Indonesian National Revolution, and briefly served as the Prime Minister for the State of East Indonesia prior to its dissolution. Originating from Saparua, Putuhena was educated at the ''Technische Hoge School'' in Bandung before working as an engineer for the colonial government. After his governmental career as public works minister during the Indonesian National Revolution, Putuhena was appointed to the State of East Indonesia initially as a compromise candidate for a security takeover, before the political situation resulted in a complete takeover which he supervised. He continued to work under the government until 1958, before entering the private sector as a consultant. Darmawan Mangunkusumo (25 May 1901 – 2 August 1971) was an Indonesian economist and engineer who served as the Minister of Welfare between 1945 and 1946, within the First and Second Sjahrir Cabinets. Before his ministerial tenure, he worked as a government economic official in the Dutch and Japanese colonial governments, and was part of the Indonesian nationalist movement since his studies in the Netherlands through Perhimpoenan Indonesia. Early life and education Darmawan was born in Purwodadi, Grobogan on 25 May 1901, a younger brother of Tjipto Mangoenkoesoemo. Soerachman Tjokroadisoerjo
Ir. Raden Mas Panji Surachman Tjokroadisurjo (30 August 1894 – 16 November 1952), more commonly referred to Surachman Tjokroadisurjo, was an Indonesian politician and academic from the province of Central Java. He served in a number of national cabinets during the National Revolution, as the Minister of Welfare and later the Minister of Finance. Born in Wonosobo, Dutch East Indies, he studied chemical engineering at the Delft Institute of Technology, Netherlands. He returned to Indonesia in 1920, and worked for the Dutch government in a chemical laboratory in Bandung. Following the proclamation of independence, he was appointed as Minister for Economic Affairs in the Presidential Cabinet. However, he only served for two months, before being appointed Minister of Finance, replacing the ill Sunarjo Kolopaking.
