''Goo Goo Dolls'' (also known as ''First Release'') is the eponymous debut studio album by American rock band Goo Goo Dolls, released on June 9, 1987 by Mercenary and Celluloid Records. All of the songs were sung by bassist Robby Takac, who was originally the band's lead vocalist. The album was recorded from late 1986 to early 1987 on a $750 budget at Trackmaster Audio in the band's hometown of Buffalo, New York. Later on, the band admitted in their 1999 VH1 ''Behind the Music'' special that the album was recorded under the influence of alcohol and drugs; Rzeznik stated, "e hada lot of beer, a lot of truck stop speed, a lot of pot... don't remember a lot of it." On December 15, 2013, the album was reissued by Charly Acquisitions as ''Made to Be Broken'' on digital-streaming services. Charly Records is a British record label that specialises in reissued material. Among the labels whose original releases are reissued by Charly are Vee-Jay, Sun, Immediate, BYG, Tomato, and Fania. History Charly Records was founded in France in 1974 by Jean-Luc Young, who had been a promoter of teen concerts but moved to the UK in 1975. Charly was originally known mainly for American-originated jazz and other modern oddities, such as the Bollock Brothers, but it is now mainly an album-oriented "retro" label. Its most obvious rivals are Rhino and See for Miles (a label that Charly distributed in the 1980s). In Europe, Charly is distributed by Snapper Records, while licensing is through LicenseMusic.com. George Tutuska
George Tutuska (born February 27, 1965) is an American musician, best known as the former drummer of the alternative rock band Goo Goo Dolls. Life and career Tutuska is from Buffalo, New York. He is of Irish and Hungarian descent, and he is married with two children. Goo Goo Dolls Tutuska played drums with the Goo Goo Dolls from 1985 to 1994. Departure Prior to Tutuska's departure from the Goo Goo Dolls, there was a payment dispute between him and long-time friend and singer/guitarist John Rzeznik over Tutuska's contribution to the writing of the ''Superstar Car Wash'' single "Fallin' Down". John Rzeznik
John Joseph Theodore Rzeznik (; born December 5, 1965) is an American singer-songwriter, best known as the founder, guitarist and frontman of the American rock band Goo Goo Dolls, with whom he has recorded 14 studio albums. Early life Rzeznik was born in Buffalo, New York, the youngest of five children and only son of Edith (née Pomeroy) and Joe Rzeznik, a bar proprietor and postal clerk. Both of Rzeznik's parents were musicians, playing the clarinet and flute. Rzeznik had a strict Catholic upbringing in Buffalo's working-class East Side Polish neighborhood and attended Corpus Christi Grammar School. All four of Rzeznik's grandparents were born in Poland. The original pronunciation of his last name Rzeźnik is "Zhezh-neek" (zh as in bei''ge'') , Polish for "butcher". "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" is a song by American rock band Blue Öyster Cult from the band's 1976 album ''Agents of Fortune.'' The song, written and sung by lead guitarist Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, deals with eternal love and the inevitability of death. Dharma wrote the song while picturing an early death for himself.
