First Morgan Government
The first Morgan government was formed on 16 October 2000 by Rhodri Morgan and a was a coalition government with the Liberal Democrats, it was officially referred to as the 'Coalition Partnership' . It was proceeded by the Interim Morgan Government, a Labour minority government headed by Rhodri Morgan between February and October 2000. Background Rhodri Morgan became First Secretary of Wales on 15 February 2000, between February and October 2000 and headed up a minority government with 28 of the Assembly's 60 seats. The unstable nature of the then minority government was of concern and was always viewed as temporary and Labour had mooted looking for a coalition partner following their persevered poor showing in the 1999 election. Welsh Government
The Welsh Government ( cy, Llywodraeth Cymru) is the Welsh devolution, devolved government of Wales. The government consists of ministers and Minister (government), deputy ministers, and also of a Counsel General for Wales, counsel general. Ministers only attend the Cabinet Meetings of the Welsh Government. Second Morgan Government
The second Morgan government (2003–2007) was a Labour majority government in Wales. Having won 30 out of the 60 seats available in the 2003 general election and with the non-voting Presiding Officer and Deputy both coming from the opposition, the Labour party were able to form a majority government with 30 seats to the opposition's 28 with Rhodri Morgan continuing as First Minister. This majority continued until Peter Law left Labour in 2005 to sit as an independent on the opposition benches, giving the government 29 and the opposition (excluding the Presiding Officer and Deputy) 29. Sue Essex
Sue Essex (born 29 August 1945 in Cromford, Derbyshire) is a Welsh Labour politician who was the Member of the National Assembly for Wales for Cardiff North from 1999 to 2007. She was the Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Finance, Local Government and Public Services in the Second Assembly 2003-07 and retired at the 2007 election. Andrew Davies (Labour Politician)
Andrew David Davies (born 5 May 1952) is a Welsh Labour politician, who represented the constituency of Swansea West in the National Assembly for Wales. Carwyn Howell Jones (born 21 March 1967) is a Welsh politician who served as First Minister of Wales and Leader of Welsh Labour from 2009 to 2018. The deputy first minister of Wales ( cy, dirprwy brif weinidog Cymru) is the deputy leader of the Welsh Government. The post was created in October 2000 when Mike German of the Welsh Liberal Democrats was appointed Deputy First Minister as part of a coalition government with Welsh Labour.
