Firewheel is an upscale masterplanned community in the Dallas suburb of Garland, Texas. Development began principally in the late 1990s. Due to proximity to the President George Bush Turnpike, new development of residential homes and large scale retail has been constant. The majority of Firewheel is located in Dallas County with a small portion located in Collin County. Residents of Firewheel have excellent access to nearby areas of Garland, the central city of Dallas and nearby suburbs of Plano, Richardson & Sachse. Popular attractions include the Firewheel Town Center Mall and the Firewheel Golf Park. Firewheel is served by the Garland Independent School District in Dallas county and Plano Independent School District in Collin County. Garland is a city in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located northeast of Dallas and is a part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. It is located within Dallas County except for small portions located in Collin and Rockwall Counties. At the 2010 census, the city had a population of 226,876. President George Bush Turnpike
The President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) is a toll road running through the northern, northeastern and western suburbs, forming a partial loop around Dallas, Texas, United States. It is named for the late George H. W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States. At its west end near Belt Line Road in Irving, State Highway 161 (SH 161) continues southwest to Interstate 20 (I-20) in Grand Prairie. The discontinuous free frontage roads along the turnpike from I-35E in Carrollton east to its end at I-30 in Garland are assigned the State Highway 190 (SH 190) designation. Firewheel Town Center
Firewheel Town Center is a open-air regional shopping mall in Garland, Texas. The mall is located on the northeast corner of President George Bush Turnpike and State Highway 78. The mall opened on October 7, 2005. Although "coming soon" signs first appeared in 1984, actual construction did not begin until early 2003. It was completed in 2005 and is owned by the Simon Property Group. Unlike a traditional mall, Firewheel Town Center was designed in the new urbanism style. Similar area shopping centers include Southlake Town Square, The Shops at Legacy, Uptown Village at Cedar Hill, The Shops at Highland Village, and The Village at Allen.
