''Fires of Eden'' is the eighteenth studio album by American singer Judy Collins released in September 1990 by Columbia Records. It was Collins' first and only release for Columbia. The album was produced by Joel Dorn and Lucy Simon. Overview For the album, Collins wrote the album's opening seven-minute track "The Blizzard", she also contributed to the songs "Fortune of Soldiers", "Home Before Dark", "City of Cities", "Queen of the Night", mostly with songwriters Robin Batteau and David Buskin. For the album, a studio version of the song "From A Distance" was recorded, which was presented on the previous album in a live version. Judy Collins
Judith Marjorie Collins (born May 1, 1939) is an American singer-songwriter and musician with a career spanning seven decades. An Academy Award-nominated documentary director and a Grammy Award-winning recording artist, she is known for her eclectic tastes in the material she records (which has included folk music, country, show tunes, pop music, rock and roll and standards), for her social activism, and for the clarity of her voice. Her discography consists of 36 studio albums, nine live albums, numerous compilation albums, four holiday albums, and 21 singles. Collins' debut album, '' A Maid of Constant Sorrow'', was released in 1961 and consisted of traditional folk songs. She had her first charting single with "Hard Lovin' Loser" (No. 97) from her 1966 album ''In My Life'', but it was the lead single from her 1967 album '' Wildflowers,'' "Both Sides, Now" – written by Joni Mitchell – that gave her international prominence. Kit Hain
Kit Hain (born 15 December 1956) is a British musician, songwriter and writer. She was a member of the rock duo Marshall Hain and had a solo career as a performer and songwriter. Musical career Hain met Julian Marshall while they were pupils at Dartington Hall School, and together they formed the British pop-rock band Marshall Hain. Marshall played the keyboard, while Hain performed vocals and bass. Their 1978 single "Dancing in the City" reached No. 3 in the UK Singles Chart. However, the band split when Julian Marshall found the pressure too much. Hain's first release after the duo split was "The Joke's on You", for Harvest Records. Mark Goldenberg (born April 10, 1952) is an American guitarist and songwriter, noted for his session work and composition of successful songs for Linda Ronstadt, the Pointer Sisters, and others. Biography Early career Raised in Chicago, Illinois, Goldenberg studied at the Music Conservatory at the Chicago College of Performing Arts and the Chicago Musical College.
