Fiona Dunbar is a children's author and illustrator based in the United Kingdom. Biography She was born in 1961 in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. She attended St Mary's School in Gerrard's Cross and left school at 16 to go to art college in High Wycombe. After working in a commercial art studio, which she labelled as 'disposible' work, and then as a freelance illustrator, she embarked on a writing career. Since her first book, ''The Truth Cookie'', was published in 2010, she has written two trilogies and ''Toonhead''. Hemel Hempstead () is a town in the Dacorum district in Hertfordshire, England, northwest of London, which is part of the Greater London Urban Area. The population at the 2011 census was 97,500. Developed after the Second World War as a new town, it has existed since the 8th century and was granted its town charter by Henry VIII in 1539. Nearby towns are Watford, St Albans and Berkhamsted. ''Jinx'' is a British children's comedy television sitcom based on the 'Lulu Baker' trilogy of books, written by Fiona Dunbar. The first series premiered on 31 October 2009 on CBBC and ended its initial run on 23 January 2010. The series follows the life of Lulu Baker, a teenager who is able to conjure spells. However, her fairy godmother, Cookie, stops things from going smoothly.
