Finsec
Finance and Information Workers Union (Finsec) was a small organising trade union covering about 6,600 workers in the New Zealand finance sector. It was formed in 1990 from the merger of the Bank Officers’ Union and the Insurance Workers UnionIn October 2011 Finsec amalgamated with the National Distribution Union to create a new union called First Union New Zealand. The majority of its members were located at the four big foreign owned banks in New Zealand; ASB, ANZ National Bank, BNZ and Westpac. However, it also covered legal employees, accountancy employees, stock and station employees and commerce workers, and a growing number of members work in call centres, information technology, communications and related industries. Finsec had offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch. First Union New Zealand is a national trade union in New Zealand that was formed on 1 October 2011 by the merger of the National Distribution Union and Finsec. On the 7th of November 2018, the New Zealand Bakers, Pastrycooks and Related Employees Union amalgamated into First Union. The New Zealand Bakers, Pastrycooks and Related Employees Union reported having 443 members on March 1st 2018 in its annual membership return. The National Distribution Union (NDU) was a national trade union in New Zealand. It was formed in 1986 as the ''Northern Distribution Union'' by the merger of The Northern Drivers Union, The Northern Stores and Warehouse Union, The Auckland and Gisborne Shop Employee Union, and The Northern Butchers and Grocers Union. A further merging of seven South Island unions led to the renaming to the National Distribution Union, the union's final name before its 2011 amalgamation into First Union New Zealand.
