Steven Finn
Steven Thomas Finn (born 4 April 1989) is an English cricketer. He is a right-arm fast bowler, who also bats right-handed. At the age of 16, he became Middlesex County Cricket Club's youngest-ever debutant in first-class cricket. He made his England Test debut in 2010 against Bangladesh. He lives in Brighton. In 2019 he became a commentator for ''Test Match Special''. Early life Finn was educated at Parmiter's School in Garston near Watford. He is a supporter of Watford F.C. and a former county basketball player. Finn played locally for Langleybury CC and West Herts CC, and later in his career for Hampstead Cricket Club. Domestic cricket He made his first-class debut for Middlesex on 1 June 2005, playing against Cambridge UCCE at Fenner's. He took 1 wicket for 16 runs (1/16) and 1/37 and did not bat. Phineas Finn
''Phineas Finn'' is a novel by Anthony Trollope and the name of its leading character. The novel was first published as a monthly serial from October 1867 to May 1868 in ''St Paul's Magazine''. It is the second of the " Palliser" series of novels. Its sequel, ''Phineas Redux'', is the fourth novel in the series. The character of Phineas Finn is said to have been partly inspired by Sir John Pope Hennessy (grandfather of the museum director of the same name), a Roman Catholic from Cork, who was elected as an "Irish Nationalist Conservative" Member of Parliament for King's County in 1859. It deals with both British parliamentary politics of the 1860s, including voting reform (secret ballot and eliminating rotten boroughs and Irish tenant-right) and Finn's romances with women of fortune, which would secure his financial future. John Knowles
John Knowles (; September 16, 1926November 29, 2001) was an American novelist best known for ''A Separate Peace'' (1959). Biography Knowles was born on September 17, 1926, in Fairmont, West Virginia, the son of James M. Knowles, a purchasing agent from Lowell, Massachusetts, and Mary Beatrice Shea Knowles from Concord, New Hampshire. His father was a coal company executive, which earned an income that afforded the family a comfortable living. As a youth, Knowles would remark that he could write just as well as the stories from ''The Saturday Evening Post''. Knowles attended St. Peter's High School in Fairmont from 1938 to 1940, before he continued at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire, and graduated in 1945. Following his time at Phillips Exeter, Knowles spent eight months serving in the US Army Air Forces at the end of World War II. Finny (or Finney) () is a small village and townland in County Mayo, Ireland. The village is situated in the civil parish of Ross, in the Barony of Ross. Finny is located on the R300 regional road. The nearby Finny River, rising from the south-east of Loch Na Fooey drains westward into the southwest part of Lough Mask. Finny is approximately 10 km to the west of Clonbur, County Galway, 11 km to the east of Leenaun, County Galway and 17 km south west of Toormakeady, County Mayo. Culture Finny is an Irish-speaking district within the Gaeltacht of south Mayo and is also located within the cultural district of Joyce Country.
