Finnur Kolbeinsson
Finnur Kolbeinsson (born 21 March 1972) is a retired Icelandic semi-professional football midfielder who made over 200 appearances for Fylkir. He also played in Malta and Belgium and was capped by Iceland at international level. Club career A midfielder, Finnur made 287 appearances and scored 36 goals across three spells for Fylkir in his native Iceland between 1989 and 2005. He won the Icelandic Cup and three 1. deild karla championships with the club. Earlier in his career he also played in Malta and Belgium for Hibernians and KSV Bornem respectively. International career Finnur won 15 caps and scored two goals for Iceland at youth level and won a single cap for the senior team, as a late substitute for Baldur Þór Bjarnason in a 1–0 friendly defeat to the United States on 31 August 1993. Midfielder
A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. As central midfielders often go across boundaries, with mobility and passing ability, they are often referred to as deep-lying midfielders, play-makers, box-to-box midfielders, or holding midfielders. There are also attacking midfielders with limited defensive assignments. The size of midfield units on a team and their assigned roles depend on what formation is used; the unit of these players on the pitch is commonly referred to as the midfield. Kolbeinn Finnsson
Kolbeinn Birgir Finnsson (born 25 August 1999) is an Icelandic professional footballer who plays for Danish club Lyngby and the Iceland national team as a defender or midfielder. He has played domestic football in Iceland, the Netherlands, England, Germany and Denmark. A product of the Fylkir academy, Kolbeinn began his senior career with the club and transferred to FC Groningen in 2015, with whom he progressed into the reserve team. In 2018, he transferred to Brentford B, from whom he transferred to Borussia Dortmund II in 2019. Kolbeinn was capped by Iceland at youth level and made his full international debut in 2019. Úrvalsdeild Karla (football)
The Úrvalsdeild karla (, Men's Select Division) is the highest men's football league in Iceland. It has been played since 1912. Because of the harsh winters in Iceland, it is generally played in the spring and summer (May to September). It is governed by the Football Association of Iceland (KSI) and has 12 teams. By end of season 2015–2016, UEFA ranked the league No. 35 in Europe. From 27 April 2009, the league has had an active agreement on the league's name rights with Ölgerðin, the Icelandic franchisee for Pepsi. From the 2019 season onwards, the league is popularly referred to as Pepsi Max deildin (The Pepsi Max League). The clubs play each other home and away.
