Finnish Hunters' Association
The Finnish Hunters' Association ( fi, Suomen Metsästäjäliitto) is Finland's largest voluntary association of hunters, consisting of over 2,500 hunting clubs and over 150,000 members. The association was founded in 1921, and today consists of 16 district organizations. Its headquarters are located in Riihimäki. It is a member of the European hunters association FACE as well as the National Defence Training Association of Finland. A member magazine called ''Jahti–Jakt'' is published by the association four times a year. The magazine is distributed to all members of the association, but it is also possible to subscribe for the magazine without being a member. The goal of the association is to promote the interests of Finnish hunters and hunting club activities. Riihimäki (literally "Drying barn hill") is a town and municipality in the south of Finland, about north of Helsinki and southeast of Tampere. Moose Biathlon
Moose biathlon ( fi, Hirvenhiihto) is a variation of the winter sport biathlon comprising cross-country skiing, range estimation of paper targets resembling a moose and rifle shooting at a 10 ringed target using fullbore biathlon rifles. Competitions are held by the Finnish Hunters' Association. The sport was developed in Finland in the 1970s, and today competitions are held in Finland and Sweden with a goal to become a Nordic discipline. There are over 10,000 competitors in Sweden and Finland, and over 600 competitors compete at the yearly Finnish Championship. The skiing is performed classic style over a distance of 7–9 kilometers while carrying the rifle. Competitors under the age of 16 do not have to carry the rifle themselves. The places of range estimation and shooting are located along the ski course. 100 meter running moose (Norwegian ''elgbaneskyting'', Swedish ''älgbaneskytte'', Finnish ''hirviammunta'') is a shooting sport based on running targets simulating a moose moving sideways. The sport is popular in Norway, Sweden and Finland, with competitions being arranged by the Norwegian Association of Hunters and Anglers, Svenska Jägareförbundet and Finnish Hunters' Association, respectively. 100 Meter Running Deer
100 meter running deer is a discontinued ISSF shooting event, that was part of the Olympic program from 1908 to 1924, in 1952 and 1956, and of the ISSF World Shooting Championships program from 1929 to 1962, when it was replaced by 50 meter running target. Being the original running target event, it was shot with centerfire rifles from a distance of 100 meters, with the target moving sideways across a 20-meter-wide opening. Trap Shooting
Trap shooting, or trapshooting in North America, is one of the three major disciplines of competitive clay pigeon shooting, which is shooting shotguns at clay targets. The other disciplines are skeet shooting and sporting clays. They are distinguished roughly as follows, with variations within each group. In trap shooting, the targets are launched from a single "house" or machine, generally away from the shooter. In skeet shooting, targets are launched from two houses in somewhat sideways paths that intersect in front of the shooter. Sporting clays includes a more complex course, with many launch points.
