''Fingerlings 3'' is the third in Andrew Bird’s series of live albums called Fingerlings. Unlike the previous ''Fingerlings'', ''Fingerlings 3'' contains songs not recorded live in front of an audience; "Dear Dirty" is a studio track and "The Water Jet Cilice" and "Ethiobirds" were recorded live (solo) at Andrew’s home studio in a barn in rural western Illinois. Tracks "Dark Matter" and “Scythian Empire" are live recordings of songs that were later included on Bird's 2007 album ''Armchair Apocrypha ''Armchair Apocrypha'' is American singer-songwriter Andrew Bird's fourth studio album and his third post-Bowl of Fire album. Andrew Bird
Andrew Wegman Bird (born July 11, 1973) is an American indie rock multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. Since 1996, he has released 16 studio albums, as well as several live albums and EPs, spanning various genres including swing music, indie rock, and folk music. He is primarily known for his unique style of violin playing, accompanied by loop and effect pedals, whistling, and voice. In the 1990s, he sang and played violin in several jazz ensembles, including Squirrel Nut Zippers and Kevin O'Donnell's Quality Six. He went on to start his own swing ensemble, Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire, which released three albums between 1998 and 2001. ''Weather Systems'' (2003) was his first solo album after Bowl of Fire disbandment, and it marked a departure from jazz music into indie music. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. ''Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs'' is the third album of Andrew Bird's career post-Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire, Bowl of Fire, released in 2005, following his ''Weather Systems (Andrew Bird album), Weather Systems'' in 2003. The album art, along with track illustrations in the accompanying booklet were drawn by Jay Ryan (artist), Jay Ryan. Bird expanded on his earlier work on ''Weather Systems''; the song "Skin Is, My" is an outgrowth of his earlier song "Skin". Reception "Fake Palindromes" was listed as the 331st best song of the 2000s by the music website ''Pitchfork (website), Pitchfork''. ''Pitchfork'' also placed the album at number 181 on their list of top 200 albums of the 2000s. The album has sold 80,000 copies in the United States by November 2008. ''Armchair Apocrypha'' is American singer-songwriter Andrew Bird's fourth studio album and his third post-Bowl of Fire album. The album features more electric guitars, a change from the more acoustic-oriented ''Eggs'', though the songs are similar in character if slightly more straightforward. Writing and composition * "Simple X" is sampled from the song "Simple Exercises" by collaborator Dosh, off his solo album, Pure Trash. The Handsome Family is an American music duo consisting of husband and wife Brett and Rennie Sparks formed in Chicago, Illinois, and as of 2001 based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
