Hermine Finck
Hermine Finck (1 January 187231 October 1932) was a German opera singer. She created the role of The Witch in the world premiere of Humperdinck's ''Hansel and Gretel'' and appeared in numerous leading soprano roles in the opera houses of Germany. Also known as Hermine d'Albert, she was the third wife of the composer Eugen d'Albert to whom she was married from 1895 until their divorce in 1911. Finck was born in Baden-Baden and died at age 60 in Berlin, where she had taught singing in her later years. Life and career Finck was born in Baden-Baden to a prosperous middle-class family. She began her musical education at Dr. Hoch's Konservatorium in Frankfurt and later studied singing at the Leipzig conservatory with Gustav Borchers and Auguste Götze. Wilhelm von Finck (born 6 February 1848 - 4 April 1924) was a German entrepreneur and banker. Finck was a co-founder of the German companies Allianz and Munich Re. Life In Frankfurt am Main, he was a student at the Hasselsche Institut. He worked first for German company Bankhaus Philipp Nicolaus Schmidt. Werner Finck (2 May 1902 – 31 July 1978) was a German ''Kabarett'' comedian, actor and author. Not politically motivated by his own admission but just a "convinced individualist", he became one of Germany's leading cabaret artists under the conditions of the Nazi suppression after 1933. Biography Born in Görlitz in Prussian Silesia, the son of a pharmacist, Finck attended an art school in Dresden and began his career as an itinerant storyteller of fairy tales in the 1920s. He took acting lessons and began a mediocre tenure in the theatre, making his debut in Silesian Bunzlau (present-day Bolesławiec, Poland). Robert John "Robin" Finck (born November 7, 1971) is an American guitarist. Finck is the longest-serving touring musician for Nine Inch Nails, performing with the band from 1994 to 2000, and returning in 2008. With Nine Inch Nails, Finck contributed studio performances on ‘’ The Slip’’ (2008). Finck also was an official member of Guns N’ Roses from 1997 through 2008. With Guns N’ Roses, Finck wrote and recorded on the long-delayed ‘’Chinese Democracy’’ (2008), notably co-writing the single “ Better”. Pierre Joseph Étienne Finck (1797–1870) was a French mathematician. Life and work Finck, who became orphan at twelve years, was educated by a merchant of Landau (Pfalz (region), Pfalz). In 1815, he entered in the ''École Polytechnique'', where he graduated in 1817. After some time studying in the Artillery School, he left París for Strasbourg before 1821. From 1825 he was professor in the Artillery School of Strasburg and, simultaneously, professor of special mathematics in the ''Collége de Strasbourg''. In 1842 he was appointed adjunct professor of applied mathematics in the University of Strasbourg where he was appointed full professor in 1847. From 1862 he began to suffer from ill health.
