Finance And Expenditure Committee
The Finance and Expenditure Committee (known as the Public Accounts Committee until 1962, and as the Public Expenditure Committee, from 1962) is a select committee of the House of Representatives, the unicameral chamber of the New Zealand Parliament, responsible for matters relating to the audit of the financial statements of the Government and departments, Government finance, revenue, and taxation. A committee or commission is a body of one or more persons subordinate to a deliberative assembly. A committee is not itself considered to be a form of assembly. Usually, the assembly sends matters into a committee as a way to explore them more fully than would be possible if the assembly itself were considering them. Committees may have different functions and their types of work differ depending on the type of the organization and its needs. A member of a legislature may be delegated a committee assignment, which gives them the right to serve on a certain committee. Purpose A deliberative assembly may form a committee (or "commission") consisting of one or more persons to assist with the work of the assembly. Shanan Halbert
Shanan Kiritea Halbert (born 1982) is a New Zealand politician. As of 2020 he is a Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives for the Labour Party. Early life and career Halbert has affiliation to Rongowhakaata and Ngāti Whitikaupeka through his father, while his mother is pākehā. He grew up in Napier, and moved to Auckland after graduating from high school. He has a BA in education and Māori from the University of Auckland and a certificate in Contemporary Performing Arts from AUT. He started, but did not complete, an MBA. Halbert has worked at Glenfield College, where he set up the Health Sciences Academy, and at Catholic college Hato Petera. He was the Head of Relationships at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. North Shore is a parliamentary electorate that returns one Member of Parliament to the New Zealand House of Representatives. The current MP for North Shore is Simon Watts of the National Party, who at the 2020 election was elected to succeed the retiring Maggie Barry, also of National. Population centres The 1941 New Zealand census had been postponed due to World War II, so the 1946 electoral redistribution had to take ten years of population growth and movements into account. Auckland Central is a New Zealand electoral division returning one member to the New Zealand House of Representatives. Chlöe Charlotte Swarbrick (born 26 June 1994) is a New Zealand politician. The 2020 New Zealand general election held on Saturday, 17 October 2020 determined the membership of the 53rd New Zealand Parliament. It was previously scheduled for 19 September, before being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Parliament has 120 seats, and 72 will be filled by electorate MPs, with the remaining 48 from ranked party lists. Parties were required to submit their party lists to the Electoral Commission by 17 September and the lists were publicly released on 19 September, though some parties published their lists earlier than that. Helen Ione White (born ) is a New Zealand politician. In 2020 she became a Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives for the Labour Party. In 2023, she was chosen by Labour to contest the Mount Albert electorate, previously held by former Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. White won the seat, holding it for Labour, but by a significantly reduced margin of 18 votes.
