Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup
The Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup (previously known as the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup) is a pre-season collegiate basketball tournament in the Philippines. It is organized by Filoil EcoOil Sports. It gathers teams mainly from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), but also include some invited teams such as the RP Youth under-18 team and teams from other leagues, in a basketball tournament just before the start of the collegiate season. History The tournament was organized by the Filoil Flying V Sports team of the Villavicencio Group of Companies. It was first held as a post-season tournament in 2006 where it was known as the Homegrown Invitational Cup. Starting in 2007, Filoil Flying V Sports decided to hold it every summer and it was subsequently renamed as the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup. Homegrown Cup
The Homegrown Invitational Cup is a collegiate basketball tournament in the Philippines. It aims to determine which is the best "homegrown" collegiate team. Homegrown players are those who came directly from the juniors team of the said school. As a rule, each team must have at least 3 players from its roster who came from their junior ranks. The league gained TV coverage in 2006 through Studio 23. Lyceum Pirates
The LPU Pirates are the athletic teams that represent the Lyceum of the Philippines University and plays in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines), the oldest athletic association in the Philippines. Lyceum has fifteen collegiate men's varsity teams that participate in fifteen sporting events of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines), its mother league. Arellano Chiefs
The Arellano University Chiefs is the athletic team of Arellano University. It is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA). The team has several intercollegiate varsity sports teams for women and men at Arellano. History Originally as the Arellano Flaming Arrows, the team won the National Student's Championship (NSC) in the 1970s. Years later, the Chiefs entered the best-of-three finals in the men's basketball division of the NCRAA in 2006 when they were defeated by the Saint Francis of Assisi College Doves. The 2016 Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup is the eleventh preseason high school and collegiate basketball tournament organized by Filoil Flying V Sports. The opening ceremonies was held on April 30, 2016 at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan. Former UAAP champions De La Salle Green Archers and former NCAA champions Arellano University Chiefs will head-to-head in the seniors division finals. At the end, the Green Archers won the championship over the Chiefs, 86-74. The 2012 Filoil Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup is the seventh preseason high school and collegiate basketball tournament organized by Filoil Flying V Sports. The opening ceremonies was held on April 14, 2012 with the first tripleheader of basketball games at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan. Ateneo Blue Eagles
The Ateneo Blue Eagles are the collegiate varsity teams of the Ateneo de Manila University that play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the premiere collegiate league in the Philippines.
