Jo Fox
Joanne Clare Fox is a British historian specialising in the history of film and propaganda in twentieth-century Europe. From 2018 to 2020 she was director of the Institute of Historical Research, School of Advanced Study, University of London (the Institute's first woman director). Since 2020 she has been dean of the same university's School of Advanced Study. Education Joanne Clare Fox earned BA and PhD degrees in history from the University of Kent. Career Before becoming a university lecturer, she had intended to use her historical training to work in heritage, but changed her mind after a student at the University of Kent told her, "You have been an inspiration to all of us! You should be teaching!" Fox started her academic career at Durham University in 1999, rising to professor of modern history and head of department.
