Figure skating was competed at the 2009 Winter Universiade. Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, ice dancing, and synchronized skating. It took place between February 21 and 24, 2009 at the Harbin International Convention Exhibition and Sports Center. Notes The compulsory dance was the Paso Doble. Harbin

Compulsory Dance
The compulsory dance (CD), now called the pattern dance, is a part of the figure skating segment of ice dance competitions in which all the competing couples perform the same standardized steps and holds to the music of a specified tempo and genre. One or more compulsory dances were usually skated as the first phase of ice dancing competitions. The 2009–10 season was the final season in which the segment was included in International Skating Union (ISU) junior and senior level competition. In June 2010, the ISU replaced the name "compulsory dance" with "pattern dance" for ice dance, and merged it into the short dance (SD) beginning in the 2010–11 figure skating season. The first CDs were developed during the 1930s by teams from Great Britain, who dominated ice dance for most of the early years after the sport was contested at the 1952 World Championships. Gao Song (figure Skater)
Gao Song (; born March 20, 1981) is a Chinese former competitive figure skater. He is the 2002 Four Continents bronze medalist, 2003 NHK Trophy bronze medalist, 1999 Junior Grand Prix Final champion, and 2006 Chinese national champion. Career Gao won the silver medal at the 1998 ISU Junior Grand Prix in China. In the 1999–2000 JGP series, he qualified for the final by winning gold in Norway and placing fourth in Japan. In December 1999, he was awarded the gold medal at the JGP Final in Gdańsk, Poland, ahead of Germany's Stefan Lindemann and Canada's Fedor Andreev. In March 2000, he finished sixth at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Oberstdorf, Germany, having placed fourth in his qualifying group, sixth in the short program, and sixth in the free skate. Kristoffer Berntsson
Johan Kristoffer Berntsson (born 13 July 1982) is a Swedish former competitive figure skater. He is an eight-time (2000–2001, 2004–2005, 2007–2010) Swedish national champion and the five-time (2002–2005, 2007) Nordic Champion. Berntsson was the first Swede to land a triple Axel. Career Berntsson began skating at age 5. Though he started out doing both hockey and figure skating, he soon focused exclusively on the latter. Berntsson won the Swedish junior national champion in 1996–1997, a title he would go on to win the next two season as well. He skated on the international junior circuit starting in 1998–1999. Martin Liebers
Martin Liebers (born 22 June 1985 in Berlin) is a German former competitive figure skater. He is a four-time German national bronze medalist (2005–2008), was the Junior National Champion in 2000 and the Novice National Champion in 1997. In 2009 he started training pairs. He partnered with Nicole Gurny and they are being coached by Monika Scheibe. In the 2009–2010 season he intends to compete in both Singles and Pairs. Konstantin Alexandrovich Menshov (russian: Константин Александрович Меньшов; born 23 February 1983) is a Russian former competitive figure skater. He is the 2014 European bronze medalist, the 2015 Finlandia Trophy champion, a two-time (2010, 2012) Nebelhorn Trophy silver medalist, a two-time (2007, 2012) NRW Trophy champion, and the 2011 Russian national champion. Menshov is one of the skaters to have landed two quad jumps in a short program and three quad jumps in a free program. Paolo Bacchini
Paolo Bacchini (born 16 August 1985) is an Italian former competitive figure skater. He is the 2007 and 2012 Merano Cup champion, 2008 Triglav Trophy champion, and a twelve-time Italian national medalist (2002–2013). Bacchini represented Italy at the 2010 Winter Olympics where he placed 20th in the men's event. In 2011, Bacchini joined Fiamme Oro, the sports category of the Italian police. Tatsuki Machida
(born March 9, 1990) is a Japanese retired figure skater. He is the 2014 World silver medalist, the 2010 Four Continents silver medalist, and the 2013–14 Japanese national silver medalist. Machida is the winner of four Grand Prix events — the 2012 Cup of China, 2013 Skate America, 2013 Rostelecom Cup, and 2014 Skate America. Personal life Tatsuki Machida was born in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, Japan. He studied literature at Kansai University in Osaka. Alban Préaubert (born 20 September 1985) is a French former competitive figure skater. He won six ISU Grand Prix medals and five French national bronze medals (2006, 2008–11). Personal life Alban Préaubert was born on 20 September 1985 in Grenoble, France. His studies focused on economy and management. He graduated with an MBA from ESCP Europe in May 2010.
