Fifth Avenue (film)
''Fifth Avenue'' is a lost 1926 American silent drama film directed by Robert G. Vignola and starring Marguerite De La Motte, Allan Forrest, and Louise Dresser. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Barbara Pelham, a young woman who arrives in New York City from the South to obtain an advance on her father’s cotton crop, is lured into staying at a disorderly house. It is here that Peter Heffner, the broker from whom she sought a loan, makes unwelcome advances to her. She flees the house just prior to it being raided by the police. Later she meets Neil Heffner, the son of the broker. A friendship that ripens to love forms between the young people. The young man’s father tries to discredit the young woman by calling her a prostitute, but her name is cleared by an explanation by Mrs. Kemp, who was the keeper of the resort. Rolfe Sedan (born Edward Sedan; January 20, 1896 – September 15, 1982) was an American character actor, best known for appearing in bit parts, often uncredited, usually portraying clerks, train conductors, postmen, cooks, waiters, etc. Early life Born Edward Sedan in New York City, his mother was a Broadway theatre fashion designer and his father an orchestra conductor. Career Sedan began his career in show business as a vaudeville and nightclub performer and began acting in East Coast theatre. Flora Finch (17 June 1867 – 4 January 1940) was an English-born vaudevillian, stage and film actress who starred in over 300 silent films, including over 200 for the Vitagraph Studios film company. The vast majority of her films from the silent era are currently classified as lost. Early life and career Finch was born into a music hall and travelling theatrical family in London and was taken to the United States as a young child. She kept up the family tradition and worked in theatre and the vaudeville circuit right up until her 30s. She had her first film roles at the American Mutoscope and Biograph Company starting in 1908. Sally Long (December 5, 1901 – August 12, 1987) was an American dancer and actress. Early years Long was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Long. She graduated from Eden Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1921. Dancer Florenz Ziegfeld insured Long for $100,000 against the possibility of her falling in love or marrying when she danced for his Ziegfeld Follies in the early 1920s.
