Field Hockey At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Team Squads
Twelve national teams competed in the women's field hockey tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Sixteen players were officially enrolled in each team. Two reserve players could also be nominated to be available should a player enrolled in the official team become injured during the tournament. Official team rosters were released by the FIH on 24 July 2008. Field Hockey At The 2008 Summer Olympics
Field hockey at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing was held over a fourteen-day period beginning on 10 August, and culminating with the medal finals on 22 and 23 August. All games were played at the hockey field constructed on the Olympic Green. Competition format Twelve teams competed in both the men's and women's Olympic hockey tournaments with the competition consisting of two rounds. In the first round, teams were divided into two pools of six teams, and play followed round robin format with each of the teams playing all other teams in the pool once. Teams were awarded three points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss. Angie Skirving
Angela Robyn Lambert (; born 1 February 1981, in Toowoomba) was an Australian Women's Field Hockey player. She captained the under 21 Australian women's field hockey squad before entering the Hockeyroos in 1998 and in 2000 won gold at the Sydney Olympics. Angie went on to play in two more Olympic games and played over 225 games for Australia. Apart from playing in the Hockeyroos she played for the AHL Queensland Scorchers. The youngest of the local Australian Representatives, Skirving began playing hockey at the age of 12 and was selected in the Queensland no.1 Rep. team when 13. She debuted for the Hockeyroos at 17. In 2001 she was named the winner of the International Hockey's Junior Player of the year. In that same year Angie was awarded the Order of Australia Medal OAM for services to sport in Australia. Shelly "Sparky" Liddelow (born 30 June 1984 in Manjimup, Western Australia) plays field hockey for the Australian Women's Hockey Team, the Hockeyroos. She made her debut for Australia in 2007. Her Australian National Hockey League (NHL) team is WA Diamonds. Her local club is UWA Hockey Club. Originally only a reserve player for the Hockeyroos, Shelly entered the spotlight after Fiona Johnson injured her hamstring.
