Field Mob is an American hip hop music, hip hop duo from Albany, Georgia, composed of artists Shawn Timothy "Shawn Jay" Johnson and Darion "Smoke" Crawford. Field Mob is currently signed to T-Pain's label Nappy Boy Entertainment and managed by La' Roc Management Group owned by Christopher King (grandson of B.B. King). History Formation Darion and Shawn grew up on the outskirts of Albany, Georgia a few blocks from each other in a relatively poor neighborhood locally known as "The Field" because of its semi-rural location as compared to the city's public housing. As teenagers attending Monroe Comprehensive High School, Darion observed Shawn and a group of friends holding rap freestyle battles in the schools courtyard, with Shawn being the "reigning champion." ''From tha Roota to tha Toota'' is the second album from the hip hop duo Field Mob released under the now defunct recording label MCA Records, currently distributed by Geffen Records. It was released to stores on October 22, 2002. The title of the album is a colloquial southern United States reference to making use of an entire pig - from the snout to the tail. The LP spawned the Jazze Pha produced single "Sick of Being Lonely" which reached #18 on the US Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and #5 on the US Billboard Hot Rap Tracks charts in 2002. This album reached #33 on the US Billboard Top 200 and #4 on the US Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts. It has since been certified gold, selling over 700,000 copies. Originally, the premiere single from the album was to be the track ''Friday Night'' but did not make the final album cut, although it was still released in early 2006 as a radio promo and appeared on international editions as an extra bonus track. Instead the first official single from the album was the Jazze Pha produced song "So What (Field Mob song), So What" featuring R&B singer Ciara.
