Fidan Aghayeva-Edler
Fidan Aghayeva-Edler (born in Baku, Azerbaijan) is an Azerbaijani pianist best known for her modern and contemporary music performances. She supports the performance of female composers. Life At the age of seven she stood on the concert podium. She studied with Oqtay Abaskuliev at the Baku Academy of Music. She completed her master's degree in 2011 with Einar Röttingen at the Griegakademiet in Bergen, Norway. During this time she has developed a greater affinity for the music of Ludwig van Beethoven and Claude Debussy. In 2016 she finished the studies of concert examination with Jochen Köhler at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, Germany. Projects "Six pianos" by Steve Reich among others with Post & Mulder (Borealis Festival 2010), Makrokosmos by George Crumb at the Moscow Conservatory in 2011. Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra named after Gara Garayev () is a chamber orchestra based in Baku, Azerbaijan. It was founded by Fikrat Amirov and Gara Garayev in 1964. The orchestra generally performs works of Azerbaijani composers and premiered works by Western European and Russian composers. History The Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra (ASCO) was established on the initiative of Azerbaijani composers Fikrat Amirov and Gara Garayev in 1964. Nazim Rzayev directed the Orchestra until 1992 since its foundation. The orchestra toured different cities of Russia, as well as former Czechoslovakia, Poland, Tunis, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Turkey during this period. Unsuk Chin
Unsuk Chin ( ko, 진은숙 ; born July 14, 1961) is a South Korean composer of contemporary classical music, who is based in Berlin, Germany. Chin was self-taught piano from a young age and studied composition at Seoul National University as well as with György Ligeti at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. The recipient of numerous awards, she won the 2004 Grawemeyer Award for her Violin Concerto and the 2010 Music Composition Prize of the Prince Pierre Foundation for the ensemble piece ''Gougalōn''. Sarah Nemtsov
Sarah Nemtsov (née Reuter, born 28 May 1980) is a German composer. Nemtsov was born in Oldenburg and now lives in Berlin. She started her music lessons and composing aged eight. She started playing the oboe aged 14. Her compositions are recognizable through their confrontation with literature and other art forms. More recently, her compositions are a combination of the styles of classical and music theater. She became a full-time composer in 2007. All of her works are published by Peermusic Classical GmbH. She is married to the pianist and musicologist Jascha Nemtsov. Verdina Shlonsky (Hebrew: וורדינה (רוזה) שלונסקי) (January 22, 1905 – February 20, 1990) was an Israeli composer, pianist, publicist and painter. Biography Verdina (Rosa) Shlonsky was born to a Hasidic Jewish family in Kremenchuk in the Russian Empire, the youngest of six children. (The Hebrew root of the name Verdina is וורד "vered" or "rose".) The family immigrated to Palestine in 1923, but she remained in Vienna to continue her music education. From there, she moved to Berlin, where she studied with pianists Egon Petri and Artur Schnabel. In Paris, she studied composition with Nadia Boulanger, Edgard Varèse and Max Deutsch. Ruth Zechlin
Ruth Zechlin (22 June 1926 – 4 August 2007) was a German composer. Life Ruth Oschatz was born in Grosshartmannsdorf, where she began piano lessons at the age of five years, and wrote her first composition at the age of seven. From 1943 to 1949 she studied music theory with Johann Nepomuk David and Wilhelm Weismann, church music and organ with Karl Straube and Günther Ramin and piano with Rudolf Fischer and Anton Rohden at the Music Academy in Leipzig. After she completed the state exam, she worked at the academy for a year as a lecturer and also worked as a deputy organist at the Nikolai Church in Leipzig. In 1951 she married pianist Dieter Zechlin, and the marriage lasted until 1972 when the couple divorced. Mayako Kubo (born 5 December 1947) is a Japanese pianist and composer. Biography Mayako Kubo was born in Kobe, Japan, and studied piano at Osaka College of Music. In 1972 she continued her studies in composition with Roman Haubenstock-Ramati and Erich Urbanner in Vienna, where she composed her first pieces of tape music at the Institute of Electroacoustics and Experimental Music. In the 1980s she studied with Helmut Lachenmann in Hannover and Stuttgart and then musicology with Carl Dahlhaus in Berlin. Ursula Mamlok (February 1, 1923 – May 4, 2016) was a German-born American composer and teacher. Education and influences Mamlok was born as Ursula Meyer in Berlin, Germany, into a Jewish family, and studied piano and composition with Professor Gustav Ernest and Emily Weissgerber until her family fled Nazi Germany following the nationwide pogrom in 1938. Due to American immigration quotas, the family moved to Guayaquil, Ecuador. Ursula emigrated alone to New York City in 1940 to attend the Mannes School of Music, which had offered her full scholarship on the basis of one of her compositions. Her parents followed in 1941. Simeon Ten Holt
Simeon ten Holt (24 January 1923 – 25 November 2012) was a Dutch contemporary classical composer. Ten Holt was born in Bergen, North Holland, and studied with Jakob van Domselaer, eventually developing a highly personal style of minimal composition. Van Domselaer's influence on ten Holt's musical philosophy was considerable, with the younger composer picking up van Domselaer's interests in the links between music and visual art, in music's relationship with mathematics, and in the use of the piano as a principal instrument in his compositions.
