Fetter Schrier Hoblitzell
Fetter Schrier Hoblitzell (October 7, 1838 – May 2, 1900) was an American politician and Congressman from Maryland. Biography Born in Cumberland, Maryland, Hoblitzell attended primary school and graduated from the Allegany Academy of Cumberland. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1859, and commenced practice in Baltimore, Maryland. During the American Civil War, Hoblitzell served as a private in the First Maryland Regiment of Infantry of the Confederate Army. After the war, Hoblitzell resumed the practice of law and served as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1870 and 1876. He was reelected in 1878 and served as speaker of the house. He was later elected as a Democrat to the Forty-seventh and Forty-eighth Congresses, serving from March 4, 1881, to March 3, 1885. Hiram McCullough
Hiram McCullough (September 26, 1813 – March 4, 1885) was a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Congressman from Maryland who served two terms from 1865 to 1869. McCullough served in the Maryland Senate from 1845 to 1851. He also served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1880 to 1881 and served as the Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates in 1880. Biography Born near Elkton, Maryland, McCullough pursued an academic course at Elkton Academy and later studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1837, commencing practice in Elkton. He served in the Maryland Senate from 1845 until 1851, and was an unsuccessful candidate in 1850 for election to the Thirty-second Congress. William Hinson Cole
William Hinson Cole (January 11, 1837 – July 8, 1886) was an American politician and Congressman from Maryland. Biography Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Cole attended private school and studied medicine and law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Baltimore in 1857. He later moved to Kansas City, Kansas, to practice law, and also served as a member of the Kansas Territorial House of Representatives. He graduated from the University of Louisiana (present day Tulane University) in 1860. During the American Civil War, Cole enlisted in the Confederate States Army as a surgeon of Francis S. Bartow's Eighth Georgia Regiment. He served in the Battle of Gettysburg, then took charge of the wounded in General James Longstreet's corps. He was captured and held as prisoner at Fort McHenry in Baltimore for six months, until he was returned South and acted as surgeon on the staff of Gen. William Kimmel
William Kimmel (August 15, 1812 – December 28, 1886) was a U.S. Congressman from the third district of Maryland, serving two terms from 1877 to 1881. Kimmel was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended St. Mary’s College and Baltimore College. He studied law, and was admitted to the bar, commencing practice in Baltimore. He became interested in agricultural and business pursuits, and served as State director of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad company, director in the Union Railroad company, and in the Western Maryland extension. Kimmel served as a member of the State Democratic committee from 1862 to 1866, and as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1864. He was an unsuccessful candidate for election in 1864 to the Thirty-ninth Congress, and served as a member of the Maryland State Senate from 1866 until 1871.
