Old World Sparrow
Old World sparrows are a group of small passerine birds forming the family Passeridae. They are also known as true sparrows, a name also used for a particular genus of the family, ''Passer''. They are distinct from both the New World sparrows, in the family Passerellidae, and from a few other birds sharing their name, such as the Java sparrow of the family Estrildidae. Sergey Yakovlevich Nikitin (russian: link=no, Серге́й Яковлевич Никитин, born 8 March 1944) is a prominent Soviet and Russian bard, composer, and biophysicist. He performs both solo and in a duet with his wife, Tatyana Nikitina all over Russia, the former Soviet republics, and other countries with significant Russian-speaking diaspora. Nikitin is also known as a composer and performer of songs for children. Biography Sergey Nikitin graduated from the Physics Department of Moscow State University in 1968. After completing postgraduate studies at the department of Biophysics at Moscow State University, he worked as a researcher in Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry in Moscow (1971–1980). Kaláka
Kaláka is a folk music group formed in Budapest, Hungary on November 26, 1969. The founding members are Dániel Gryllus, Vilmos Gryllus, István Mikó and Balázs Radványi. Later Mikó was replaced by Péter Dabasi who in turn was replaced by Péter Huzella and later by Gábor Becze. Tamás Kobzos Kiss was also a member of the band for a short time. They have been in their current lineup since 1996. Since 1980 they have organized the Kaláka Folk Festival every July in the Castle of Diósgyőr, Miskolc. The word ''kaláka'' means "working together" in some Hungarian dialects. Violeta Isabel Cereceda Parra (born 29 September 1939), better known as Isabel Parra, is a famous Chilean singer-songwriter and interpreter of Latin American musical folklore. Early years Parra was born in Chile in 1939 and began her career in music at the age of 13 when she made her first recording with her world-renowned mother, the folklorist Violeta Parra. Jürgen Walter (real name: Jürgen Pippig, born 7 December 1943) is a German popular singer and composer. Biography Jürgen Walter Pippig was born in Fraureuth, a small town in Thuringia, a short distance across the state frontier to the west of Zwickau. Music featured strongly but not obsessively in his childhood. He was set to learn various musical instruments, but hated having to practice scales. Autographed card 1968 Oktoberklub (English: ''October Club)'', initially known as the ''Hootenanny-Klub Berlin'', was a political music group from the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The musical style of the group was a mixture of folk, chanson and rock music. Founded in 1966, the group disbanded in 1990. Occasional performances followed in 2002 and 2007. History The folk revival in the United States sparked a wave of folk music and protest songs in many countries worldwide in the early 1960s. The Canadian folk singer Perry Friedman had been organizing hootenannies in East Germany since 1960. A group of young people who became enthusiastic about folk music gathered around Friedman and the youth radio station DT64.
