Ferruccio Vitale
Ferruccio Vitale (1875-1933) was a landscape architect. Born in Italy, he became a United States citizen in 1921. The historian Terry R. Schnadelbach considered him to be "America's forgotten landscape architect." Life Vitale was born in Florence, Italy on February 5, 1875, the son of Lazzaro Vitale and his wife, the Countess Giuseppina Barbaro Vitale. The father was an engineer, and in 1893, the son graduated from the Royal military school in Modena with a degree in engineering. After graduating, he enlisted as an officer in the Italian army. Vitale moved to Washington, DC, in 1898 in his role of military attache to the Italian embassy. Resigning from this position, he later studied to become a landscape designer in Florence, Turin and Paris. In 1902, he moved from Genoa to New York, where he joined the firm of Parsons & Pentecost as a landscape architect. Benjamin Moore Estate
Benjamin Moore Estate, also known as Chelsea, is a historic estate located at Muttontown in Nassau County, New York. It was designed in 1923–1924 by architect William Adams Delano (1874–1960) for Benjamin Moore and Alexandra Emery. The manor house is an eclectic Chinese and French Renaissance style inspired dwelling. It is "U" shaped, two and one half stories high with hipped and gable roofs, covered with concrete block on a concrete foundation. The front facade features a steeply pitched roof, four large irregularly spaced chimneys, and a large brick tourelle with a conical roof. The Women In Military Service For America Memorial, also known as Military Women's Memorial, is a memorial established by the U.S. federal government which honors women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The memorial is located at the western end of Memorial Avenue at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington County, Virginia, in the United States. The structure in which the memorial is housed was originally known as the Hemicycle, and built in 1932 to be a ceremonial entrance to the cemetery. It never served this purpose, and was in disrepair by 1986. Congress approved the memorial in 1985, and the Hemicycle approved as the site for the memorial in 1988. Skylands is a estate property located in Ringwood State Park in Ringwood, New Jersey, a borough in Passaic County in the state of New Jersey.
