Ferndown Upper School
Ferndown Upper School is a comprehensive school and sixth form located in Ferndown, Dorset. Opened in 1972, it has grown to accommodate a broad and successful curriculum including a specialism in STEM (science, technology and maths) and the Arts. Academics For three consecutive years now Ferndown Upper School achieved high academic success with the best results for GCSE progress in Dorset. The last time the DfE produced performance tables Ferndown Upper was declared the 'Best Upper School in the Country'. Nigel Smart (cryptographer)
Nigel Smart is a professor at COSIC at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. He is a cryptographer with expertise in the theory of cryptography and its application in practice. Education Smart received a BSc degree in mathematics from the University of Reading in 1989. He then obtained his PhD degree from the University of Kent at Canterbury in 1992; his thesis was titled ''The Computer Solutions of Diophantine Equations''. Career Smart proceeded to work as a research fellow at the University of Kent, the Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Cardiff University until 1995. From 1995 to 1997, he was a lecturer in mathematics at the University of Kent, and then spent three years in industry at Hewlett-Packard from 1997 to 2000. Ferndown
Ferndown is a town and civil parish in Dorset in southern England, immediately to the north of Bournemouth and Poole.
