Fernando Carpi
Fernando Carpi (22 January 1876 – 3 August 1959) was an Italian operatic tenor and later professor of singing. Life and career Carpi was born in Florence, Italy in 1876. and made his operatic debut in Lecce in 1898. In 1905 he was in the cast of Leoncavallo' ''Zazà'' of at the Teatro de Novedades in Barcelona and in June of that year sang the role of Ernesto in ''Don Pasquale'' at the Theatre of Liege. In 1907, he appeared as Walther von Stolzing in '' Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg'' at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. By 1908, he was appearing at London's Royal Opera House in the title role of Gounod's ''Faust'' along with Pauline Donalda and Marcel Journet. In 1909 and in 1910, he sang at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon. The Teatro Regio (Royal Theatre) is a prominent opera house and opera company in Turin, Piedmont, Italy. Its season runs from October to June with the presentation of eight or nine operas given from five to twelve performances of each. Several buildings provided venues for operatic productions in Turin from the mid-16th century, but it was not until 1713 that a proper opera house was considered, and under the architect Filippo Juvarra planning began. Amelita Galli Curci
Amelita Galli-Curci (18 November 1882 – 26 November 1963) was an Italian coloratura soprano. She was one of the most popular operatic singers of the 20th century, with her recordings selling in large numbers. Early life She was born as Amelita Galli into an upper-middle-class Italian family of Spanish heritage in Milan, where she studied piano at the Milan Conservatory, winning a gold medal for piano performance, and at the age of 16 was offered a professorship. She was inspired to sing by her grandmother. Operatic composer Pietro Mascagni also encouraged Galli-Curci's singing ambitions. By her own choice, Galli-Curci's voice was largely self-trained at the beginning of her career. Geraldine Farrar
Alice Geraldine Farrar (February 28, 1882 – March 11, 1967) was an American lyric soprano who could also sing dramatic roles. She was noted for her beauty, acting ability, and "the intimate timbre of her voice." She had a large following among young women, who were nicknamed "Gerry-flappers". Antonio Scotti
Antonio Scotti (25 January 1866 – 26 February 1936) was an Italian baritone. He was a principal artist of the New York Metropolitan Opera for more than 33 seasons, but also sang with great success at London's Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and Milan's La Scala. Frieda Hempel
Frieda Hempel (26 June 1885 – 7 October 1955) was a German lyric coloratura soprano singer in operatic and concert work who had an international career in Europe and the United States. Life Hempel was born in Leipzig and studied first at the Leipzig Conservatory and afterwards at the Stern Conservatory, Berlin, where she was a pupil of Selma Nicklass-Kempner. She later studied singing with Sarah Robinson-Duff and Estelle Liebling in New York City; both of whom had been trained by Mathilde Marchesi.
