Fernando Báez (writer)
Fernando Báez (born San Félix, Ciudad Guayana, Venezuela) is a Venezuelan writer, poet, essayist and " El Director de la Biblioteca Nacional de Venezuela". He is known for his work on the destruction of Iraqi books and art caused by the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Career Báez has a degree in education and a doctorate in library science, and worked for several years at the University of the Andes in Mérida, Venezuela, where he studied Greek and Latin under José Manuel Briceño Guerrero José Manuel Briceño Guerrero (Palmarito, Apure, Venezuela, 6 March 1929 - Mérida, 31 October 2014) was a Venezuelan writer, philologist and philosopher. San Félix, Venezuela
Ciudad Guayana () (in English Guayana City) is a city in Bolívar State, Venezuela. It stretches 40 kilometers along the south bank of the Orinoco river, at the point where it is joined by its main tributary, the Caroní river. The Caroni crosses the city south-north and divides it on its two main halves: the old town of San Félix in the east, and the new town of Puerto Ordaz () in the west. The city was officially founded in 1961 by the unification of this two former settlements, but the history of San Félix goes back to its foundation in 1724.
