Fernand Raynaud
André Gustave Fernand Raynaud, best known as Fernand Raynaud (May 19, 1926 – September 28, 1973), was a French stand-up comic star, an actor and a singer. Biography Fernand Raynaud was one of the most renowned standup comedians among French comic actors of the 1950s and 1960s. He began his career playing and singing in cabarets and music halls, then he gained popularity through performances broadcast on television. He's renowned for playing typical, average Frenchmen characters, especially the silly ones, making funny faces and using mime and slapstick humor. In 1973, Raynaud was killed in a car crash in Le Cheix, near Riom, France. Jean-Baptiste Poquelin (, ; 15 January 1622 (baptised) – 17 February 1673), known by his stage name Molière (, , ), was a French playwright, actor, and poet, widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in the French language and world literature. ''Le Bourgeois gentilhomme'' (, translated as ''The Bourgeois Gentleman'', ''The Middle-Class Aristocrat'', or ''The Would-Be Noble'') is a five-act ''comédie-ballet'' – a Play (theatre), play intermingled with music, dance and singing – written by Molière, first presented on 14 October 1670 before the court of Louis XIV at the Château of Chambord by Molière's troupe of actors. Subsequent public performances were given at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal (rue Saint-Honoré), theatre of the Palais-Royal beginning on 23 November 1670. The music was composed by Jean-Baptiste Lully, the choreography was by Pierre Beauchamp, the sets were by Carlo Vigarani and the costumes were done by the Laurent d'Arvieux, chevalier d’Arvieux. The Théâtre des Nouveautés ("Theatre of the New") is a Parisian theatre built in 1921 and located at 24 boulevard Poissonnière (Paris, 9th arr.). The name was also used by several earlier Parisian theatre companies and their buildings, beginning in 1827. Built by the architect Adolf Tiers with 585 seats, the hall was inaugurated on 21 April 1921 with the play ''La journée des surprises'' ("The Day of Surprises") by Jean Bouchor. The programming was devoted to operettas and comedies. Gilbert Dupé succeeded Benoît-Léon Deutsch from 1961 to 1973.
