Fernand Etgen
Fernand Etgen (born 10 March 1957) is a Luxembourg politician of the Democratic Party (DP) who has been President of the Chamber of Deputies since 2018. Biography Studies and formation Etgen completed his secondary school studies at the Lycée classique of Diekirch from 1971 to 1977. Professional life Aside from his political career, Etgen is a civil servant working for the Registration Duties, Estates and VAT Authority. Political life Following the 2013 general election, Etgen entered the government as Minister for Agriculture, Viticulture and the Protection of consumers, as well as Minister for Parliament relations on 4 December 2013 within the coalition government between the Democratic Party (DP), Luxembourgish Socialist Worker's Party (LSAP) and the Greens (déi gréng). The president of the Chamber of Deputies (Luxembourgish: ''Chamberpresident'', French: ''Président de la Chambre des Députés'', German: ''Präsident der Abgeordnetenkammer'') is the presiding officer in Luxembourg's unicameral national legislature, the Chamber of Deputies. Note that, during recess, the chamber does not have a president. However, for continuity purposes, unless the president changes between one parliamentary session and another, the presidency is treated as though it is held continuously. Mars Di Bartolomeo (born June 27, 1952 in Dudelange, Luxembourg) is a Luxembourgish politician. After attending the Esch-sur-Alzette lycée, he worked for the ''Tageblatt'' newspaper from 1972 until 1984. He became parliamentary secretary for the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party in 1984. Nicolas Schmit (born 10 December 1953) is a politician from Luxembourg serving as European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights since 2019. Ettelbruck ( lb, Ettelbréck , german: Ettelbrück ) is a commune with town status in central Luxembourg, with a population of inhabitants. History Until 1850, both Erpeldange and Schieren were part of the Ettelbruck commune as well, but both towns were detached from Ettelbruck by law on 1 July 1850. Diekirch ( lb, Dikrech or (locally) ; from ''Diet-Kirch'', i.e. "people's church") is a commune with town status in north-eastern Luxembourg, capital city of the canton Diekirch and, until its abolition in 2015, the district of Diekirch. 2013 Luxembourg General Election
Early general elections were held in Luxembourg on 20 October 2013. The elections were called after Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, at the time the longest-serving head of government in the European Union, announced his resignation over a spy scandal involving the Service de Renseignement de l'État (SREL). The review found Juncker deficient in his control over the service.
