Feride Acar
Feride Acar (born 1948) is a Turkish international expert on women and gender. She was the founding chair of the Middle East Technical University's gender and women's studies program. Between 2003 and 2005 served as chair of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and served three consecutive terms as president of the Council of Europe's Group of Experts of Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO). In 2019, she was awarded the Pro Merito Medal of the Council of Europe for her service to that body in advancing women's rights. Early life and education Ayşe Feride Acar was born on 14 January 1948 in Bursa, Turkey. She earned a bachelor's degree in sociology at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara in 1970. Feride Bakır (born June 26, 1992) is a Turkish-German female football defender, who played in the German top women's league lately for Bayer 04 Leverkusen until 2013. She was part of the Turkey women's national football team. Bakır was born in Bonn, Germany on June 26, 1992. Feride Hilal Akın (born 8 March 1996) is a Turkish pop singer, songwriter and actress. Akın, who was raised in Ankara, finished her high school there. She started performing on stage at the age of 17. Her breakthrough came through duets with singers such as İlyas Yalçıntaş. Meanwhile, she was also cast in Show TV's series ''Yeni Gelin'' and portrayed the character of "Şirin". Her song "Yok Yok" charted many music charts in Turkey and received a nomination at the Golden Butterfly Awards as the Best Song of the Year. Feride Akgün (born 1973) is a Turkish former footballer, who played as forward in the Turkish Women's League for various clubs, and the Turkey women's national team. She was named the league's top goalscorer three times. Early years Akgün professionally played volleyball at Galatasaray. She then switched over to football. Club career Akgün played for the Istanbul-based Turkish Women's League clubs Dinarsuspor (1990-1997) and Marshall Boyaspor (1997–2001).
