Ferenc Nagy (boxer)
Ferenc Nagy (27 October 1916 – 11 May 1977) was a Hungarian boxer who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics. He was born in Cegléd. In 1936 he finished fourth in the heavyweight class. After his win in the quarterfinals against Olle Tandberg he was neither able to fight in the semifinal bout to Herbert Runge Herbert Runge (23 January 1913 – 11 March 1986) was a German heavyweight boxer. He won the gold medal at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. He was born in Elberfeld, which later became part of Wuppertal, where he died as well. Erling Nilsen (December 30, 1910 – April 23, 1984) was a Norwegian boxer who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics. Herbert Runge (23 January 1913 – 11 March 1986) was a German heavyweight boxer. He won the gold medal at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. He was born in Elberfeld, which later became part of Wuppertal, where he died as well. Amateur career Runge's biggest success was his gold medal at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. He also won three medals at the European Amateur Boxing Championships (silver in 1934 and 1937 and bronze in 1939). Cegléd (; german: Zieglet) is a city in Pest County, Pest county, Hungary, approximately southeast of the Hungarian capital, Budapest. Name The name of the town is of disputed origin. The name may be derived from the word "szeglet" (meaning "corner") due to its being a junction point of several important routes, while it may also have been derived from a Noun, proper name, i. e. from the name of a man called "Cegléd". The most likely explanation derives the name from the noun "cigle" or "cegle", the old Hungarian name of a rivercoast willow. History Its area has been inhabited since the Copper Age. Olof Peder "Olle" Tandberg (10 October 1918 – 26 December 1996) was a Swedish heavyweight boxer. He was the European amateur boxing champion between 1937 and 1939. Biography Tandberg was born in Stockholm, Sweden on 10 October 1918. He represented Djurgårdens IF. During his career he had 30 fights, winning 23 (11 by KO), losing 6 (1 by KO), and drawing 1.
