Ferenc Ilyés
Ferenc Ilyés (born 20 December 1981) is a retired Hungarian handball player. Career Club Born in Odorheiu Secuiesc into an ethnic Hungarian family, Ilyés started to play handball for his hometown club. He was spotted by the scouts of SC Pick Szeged, and the talented left back signed a contract with the Tisza-side team in 2000. His playing minutes were limited in the early times, so he moved to Makói KC on loan to get more experience. He returned to Szeged as a more mature player and immediately became a regular team member.He played in Szeged until 2007, when he switched to domestic rivals MKB Veszprém KC. With them he has won the EHF Cup Winners' Cup in 2008. After his contract ran out in 2009, he moved to Bundesliga outfit TBV Lemgo on a two-year deal. He took the EHF Cup title with the German team in 2010, after beating Kadetten Schaffhausen in the finals. Odorheiu Secuiesc
Odorheiu Secuiesc (; hu, Székelyudvarhely, ; german: Odorhellen) is the second largest municipality in Harghita County, Transylvania, Romania. In its short form, it is also known as ''Odorhei'' in Romanian and ''Udvarhely'' in Hungarian. The Hungarian name of the town "Udvarhely" means "courtyard place". Czech Republic Men's National Handball Team
The Czech Republic national handball team is the national handball team of the Czech Republic. It was most successful in the mid-1990s, with sixth place at the 1996 European Championship and a win over the later runners-up Croatia at the 1995 World Championship, but the team have failed to qualify for major championships on several occasions since. Before the Czech Republic became independent in 1993, the Czechoslovakia national team won five World Championship medals between 1954 and 1967, and qualified for every World Championship between 1954 and 1993. The Nemzeti Bajnokság I ( en, National Championship I, commonly abbreviated NB I) is the premier men's professional handball league in Hungary, administered by the Hungarian Handball Federation. Since 2016 the official name of the championship is ''K&H Férfi Kézilabda Liga'' due to sponsorship reasons. Overview Running since 1951, the Hungarian championship is among the strongests in Europe. 2013–14 EHF Cup
The 2013–14 EHF Cup was the 33rd edition of the EHF Cup and the second edition since the merger of the EHF Cup with the EHF Cup Winners' Cup. In the present format, the tournament began in early September with three knockout qualifying rounds, which concluded by late November. The 16 surviving teams were then allocated into four groups of four, where teams played against each other home-and-away in a round-robin format. The four group winners and four runners-up qualified to the quarter-finals, with each of the quarter-final winners proceeding to the Final 4 tournament played in May 2014. However, because the hosts of the Final 4 tournament, Füchse Berlin, finished the group stage among the group winners, they have clinched the direct ticket to the final weekend and decided that only three quarter-finals were played for the remaining spots in the final tournament as only the top three second-placed teams qualified to the quarter-finals. Annamária Ilyés
Annamária Ilyés (; born 9 July 1980) is a former Hungarian-Romanian international handballer. Career Club Born in Odorheiu Secuiesc in the Communist Romania into an Hungarians in Romania, ethnic Hungarian family, Ilyés began her career in her hometown club before moving to Universitatea Cluj-Napoca (women's handball), Universitatea Cluj-Napoca and later to HCM Baia Mare (women's handball), HCM Baia Mare. She left Romania in 2003 and signed to the Nemzeti Bajnokság I (women's handball), Hungarian championship to play for Váci NKSE. In 2005 Ilyés switched to Kiskunhalas NKSE and another two years later to Ferencvárosi TC (women's handball), Ferencvárosi TC, winning a league bronze with the latter one. Since 2008 Ilyés plays in Germany, enjoying the most successful period of her career. Handball at the 2004 Summer Olympics included a men's and a women's team competitions with the preliminary rounds taking place in the Sports Pavilion at the Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Complex. From the quarter final stage onwards, the women's event moved to the Helliniko Olympic Indoor Arena, a part of the Helliniko Olympic Complex, with the men joining them there for their semi-finals and final. The men's Handball event first made an appearance, played outside, at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany but did not then re-appear until the Games returned to Germany for the Munich Olympics in 1972 since when it has been ever present. World Men's Handball Championship
The IHF Men's Handball World Championship has been organized indoor by the International Handball Federation since 1938. In the twenty-seven tournaments held, eleven nations have won the title. France is the most successful team with six titles, followed by Sweden and Romania with four titles each. The current champion is Denmark, which won its second title at the 2021 tournament in Egypt.
