Fereidon Hasanvand" فریدون حسنوند" is a former Iranian MP from Andimeshk, Khuzestan Province and the former governor of Bushehr Province. He had served three terms in the parliament and was expected to have the lead in the parliament election in early 2012. Hasanvand acknowledged to be a member of Ministry of Intelligence and National Security (Iran) during his first election campaign. Contrary to expectations, he lost the 2012 election to a military general and war veteran, Seid Eisa Daraei. Andimeshk ( fa, اندیمشک, also Romanized as Āndīmeshḵ) is a city and capital of Andimeshk County, Khuzestan Province, Iran. Andimeshk is located about north of Shush, on the main road and the rail line between Tehran and Ahvaz. The name first appears in cuneiform tablets from Mesopotamia from the Ur III period (21st to 20th century BCE) in the form "Adamshakh", with a probable meaning "Crocodile (Town)". Khuzestan Province (also spelled Xuzestan; fa, استان خوزستان ''Ostān-e Xūzestān'') is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. It is in the southwest of the country, bordering Iraq and the Persian Gulf.
