Ferdinand Laloue
Ferdinand Laloue (1794 in Passy – 27 September 1850) was a French dramatist, librettist and theatre producer. Administrator of the Théâtre du Cirque-Olympique, he also was director of the Hippodrome and the théâtre des Délassements comiques. His onerous plays with fastuous settings were performed on the most important Parisian stages (Théâtre des Folies-Dramatiques, Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin, Théâtre du Châtelet, Théâtre des Variétés etc.). Passy
Passy () is an area of Paris, France, located in the 16th arrondissement, on the Right Bank. It is home to many of the city's wealthiest residents. Passy was a commune on the outskirts of Paris. In 1658, hot springs were discovered around which spa facilities were developed. This attracted Parisian society and English visitors, some of whom made the area, which combined attractive countryside with both modest houses and fine residences, their winter retreat. The population was 2,400 in 1836, 4,545 in 1841, but larger in summer. In 1861 the population was 11,431. Passy's population was 17,594 when it was absorbed into Paris along with several other communities in 1860. Nicolas Brazier
Nicolas Brazier (17 February 1783, Paris - 18 February 1838) was a French chansonnier and vaudevillist. Life Son of a boarding school master and author of school manuals, Brazier's education was however strongly neglected due to the French Revolution. At first a jeweller's apprentice, then employed in the "Droits réunis" (the French indirect taxes administration of the time), he showed a talent for verse and was encouraged and guided by Armand Gouffé. Following his first success at the Théâtre des Délassements-Comiques, in 1803, he left his job to devote himself to chansons and to the theatre, following courses at school to fill in the gaps in his education. His witty, spirited and lively chansons often proved popular, though the vulgarity of his style has led to them being forgotten. The Société du Caveau keeps their memory alive. Emmanuel Théaulon
Marie-Emmanuel-Guillaume-Marguerite Théaulon de Lambert (14 August 1787, Aigues-Mortes – 16 November 1841) was a French playwright. A customs inspector, then an inspector of military hospitals, he composed an ''Ode'' on the birth of the King of Rome which brought him thanks from Napoleon himself. In 1814 he sang for the Bourbons and put on his first play, ''Les Clefs de Paris, ou le Dessert d’Henri IV'' (The Keys of Paris, or the Deservings of Henry IV), in their honour. In 1815, he composed and organised the posting of proclamations in honour of Louis XVIII. He collaborated on the royalist journals ''Le Nain rose'', ''La Foudre'', ''L’Apollon''. Ferdinand De Villeneuve
Ferdinand de Villeneuve (5 June 1801 – 27 September 1858) was a 19th-century French playwright. Short biography He made his debut in the theatre at the age of 21 by partnering with Charles Dupeuty, and began to be successful from 1823 onwards. In 1825, he founded the newspaper ''La Nouveauté'' with Dupeuty, Amable de Saint-Hilaire and Musnier Desclozeaux, a publication which became a daily. Co-director of the Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin with Anténor Joly from December 1835, he then directed, still with Joly, the Théâtre de la Renaissance in 1838 with its own funds. Charles Désiré Dupeuty (6 February 1798 – 20 October 1865), was a 19th-century French librettist and playwright. Biography After he studied at the Lycée Impérial, he enrolled in the army during the Hundred Days then worked as an employee. He made his debut in the theatre in 1821, and in 1825 founded the opposition newspaper ''La nouveauté''. He is famous for being one of the founders of the Société des auteurs dramatiques of which he was vice-président for six years. Frédérick Lemaître
Antoine Louis Prosper "Frédérick" Lemaître (28 July 1800 – 26 January 1876) was a French actor and playwright, one of the most famous players on the celebrated Boulevard du Crime. Biography Lemaître, the son of an architect, was born at Le Havre, Seine-Maritime. He adopted the first name "Frédérick" as a stage name. He spent two years at the Conservatoire de Paris, and made his first appearance at a variety performance in one of the basement restaurants at the Palais Royal. At the Théâtre de l'Ambigu-Comique on 12 July 1823 he played the part of Robert Macaire in ''L'Auberge des Adrets''. Jean Coralli (15 January 1779 – 1 May 1854) was a French ballet dancer and choreographer, best known for collaborating with Jules Perrot in creating ''Giselle'' (1841), the quintessential Romantic ballet of the nineteenth century. Early life and career Born Giovanni Coralli Peracini, he was a son of a Bolognese family resident in Paris, where his father was a comedian at the Théâtre Italien. As a child he studied at the ballet school of the Paris Opera but chose to go to Vienna to make his debut as a dancer and choreographer. He danced for a short while at the Paris Opera in 1802 and at the King's Theatre in London and then returned to Vienna to assume the position of ballet master at the Hoftheater (Court Theater). Marc-Antoine Désaugiers
Marc-Antoine Désaugiers (1742 – 10 September 1793) was a French composer of numerous operas as well as a cantata on the storming of the Bastille and several pieces of sacred music. He was born in Fréjus. He studied music there but was largely an autodidact. Désaugiers settled in Paris in 1774 where he first came to prominence with his French translation of Giovanni Battista Mancini's ''Pensieri e riflessioni pratiche sopra il canto figurato''. His translation, published in 1776 under the title ''L'Art du chant figuré'', was much admired by Gluck who became his close friend. Désaugiers died in Paris.
