Ferdinand Deppe
Ferdinand Deppe (1794–1861) was a German naturalist, explorer and painter. He was born and died in Berlin. Deppe travelled to Mexico Mexico (Spanish: México), officially the United Mexican States, is a country in the southern portion of North America. Erwin Friedrich Theodor Stresemann (22 November 1889, in Dresden – 20 November 1972, in East Berlin) was a German naturalist and ornithologist. Stresemann was an ornithologist of extensive breadth who compiled one of the first and most comprehensive accounts of avian biology of its time as part of the ''Handbuch der Zoologie'' (Handbook of Zoology). In the process of his studies on birds, he also produced one of the most extensive historical accounts on the development of the science of ornithology. He influenced numerous ornithologists around him and oversaw the development of ornithology in Germany as editor of the ''Journal für Ornithologie''. ''Oxalis tetraphylla'' (often traded under its synonym ''O. deppei'') is a bulbous herbaceous perennial plant from Mexico. It is sometimes sold as lucky clover or shamrock (even if it isn't a clover). In the wild or feral state it is often called four-leaved wood-sorrel after its genus Oxalidaceae. Other English common names for this plant include Lucky Glover, Four-Leaf Sorrel, Four-Leaf Pink-Sorrel and others. It is sometimes called "the iron cross plant" or "oxalis iron cross" because the leaves loosely resemble the iron cross symbol, though this name is not a classic folk term and has fallen out of favour due to the bad political connotations associated with this symbol. Deppe's Squirrel
Deppe's squirrel (''Sciurus deppei'') is a species of tree squirrel in the genus ''Sciurus'' native to Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua. Description ''Sciurus deppei'' varies in individual color. The overall color of the body is gray to yellowish brown or rusty-colored brown, while the face is gray. The legs are dark gray or rust colored. The top of the tail is black with a few white hairs mixed in while the bottom side of the tail is yellowish orange to a rust color, the hairs on the tip of the tail are white. Changes in their fur due to seasons aren't typically seen, except for the white tip on their tail and the patches of hair behind the ears disappear during the summer season.
