''Feral Roots'' is the sixth studio album by American rock band Rival Sons. It was released on January 25, 2019, through Low Country Sound and Atlantic Records. It is the band's first album since '' Hollow Bones'' (2016), and their first release on Atlantic Records. It was preceded by the lead single "Do Your Worst", which peaked at number one on the '' Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Songs chart in March 2019. Critical reception Michael Pementel of ''Consequence of Sound'' gave the album a grade of B+ and said the album shows off Rival Sons' "range in performing bluesy rock 'n' roll; with high energy riffs and slow melancholy rhythms, the music offers a variety of emotional tones for listeners to absorb", and concluding that for listeners new to Rival Sons, "''Feral Roots'' is an excellent place to start". Rival Sons
Rival Sons is an American rock band formed in Long Beach, California, in 2009. The band consists of Jay Buchanan (lead vocals), Scott Holiday (guitar), Dave Beste (bass guitar) and Michael Miley (drums). They are joined by keyboard player Todd Ögren when touring. They are signed to Atlantic Records via Dave Cobb's label Low Country Sound, an imprint of Elektra. They have released six albums and one EP. History Formation and debut album ''Before The Fire'' (2006–2009) Rival Sons formed in Long Beach, where Jay Buchanan and Michael Miley lived. Scott Holiday
Scott Holiday is the guitarist of the rock and roll band Rival Sons. He is from Huntington Beach, California. Musical career Scott's first successful band was Human Lab, who signed a deal in 2000 with Atlantic Records that was negotiated by Ian Montone (manager of Jack White). The band wrote and recorded a debut album with producers Michael Beinhorn and Mark "Spike" Stent in Henson studios, Los Angeles and Olympic studios, UK, but the album was never released. Searching for a more visceral, dangerous sound, and after leaving Atlantic Records in 2004 Scott Holiday started a new band with Thomas Flowers of Oleander and J. Harley Gilmore (Weylon Krieger, Blu Cantrell) called Black Summer Crush in 2005. Gilmore departed in early 2006, leaving Holiday/Flowers in search for a rhythm section. "This Land" is a song by American blues rock artist Gary Clark Jr., from his fourth studio album of the same name. The song was released on January 10, 2019, as the album's lead single, through Warner Bros. Records. An official music video was released the same day. "This Land" received positive reviews from music critics, and won both Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. According to the 54th Grammy Awards description guide it is designed for solo, duo/groups or collaborative (vocal or instrumental) rock recordings and is limited to singles or tracks only. This award combines the previous categories for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Rock Instrumental Performance. The restructuring of these categories was a result of the Recording Academy's wish to decrease the list of categories and awards and to eliminate the distinctions between solo and duo/groups performances. Cage the Elephant is an American rock band formed in 2006 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. They moved to England, U.K. and settled in London in 2008, shortly before their self-titled first album was released. The band currently consists of Matt Shultz (vocals), his older brother Brad Shultz (rhythm guitar), Nick Bockrath (lead guitar), Matthan Minster (guitar, keyboards), Daniel Tichenor (bass), and Jared Champion (drums).
