Fennada-Filmi
Fennada-Filmi was a Finnish film production company which was in operation from 1950 to 1982. It was one of the largest companies in its field in Finland from 1950s to 1970s. Mauno Mäkelä was the head of the company during its entire run. Beginning Fennada-Filmi had its foundation in the company Fenno-Filmi, which was founded in 1942 and produced 15 movies between 1944–1950. When Mauno Mäkelä was named the CEO of the company in 1949, arrangements began to combine productions of Fenno-Filmi and Adams Filmi. New company Fennada-Filmi went active in the summer of 1950, and only the distributing duties remained for Adams Filmi. Mäkelä continued as the managing director and production manager of the new company. 1950–1960 The final film for Fenno-Filmi, ''Hallin Janne'' by Roland af Hällström, was finished in the summer of 1950. Tähdet Kertovat, Komisario Palmu
''The Stars Will Tell, Inspector Palmu'' (Finnish: ''Tähdet kertovat, komisario Palmu'') is a 1962 Finnish comedy- crime film directed by Matti Kassila. It is the third film in the ''Inspector Palmu'' series and the second one produced by Fennada-Filmi. The novel was written by Waltari through the explicit request by director Kassila. It is also the last film in the series to be shot in black and white. The fourth film was made without Waltari's involvement. Plot A body is found in the Observatory Hill (''Tähtitorninmäki'') park in Helsinki. The police are called in, believing him to be a dead vagrant. However, tabloid journalist Nopsanen happens by the scene, leading to the death being publicized in the papers that same afternoon. Robert Balser
Robert Edward "Bob" Balser (March 25, 1927 – January 4, 2016) was an American animator and animation director. Balser, together with co-director Jack Stokes, are best known as the animation directors for the 1968 film, '' Yellow Submarine'', which was inspired by the music of the Beatles. He also directed the animated "Den" sequence of the 1981 film, '' Heavy Metal''. Early life Balser was born on March 25, 1927 in Rochester, New York. He moved to Los Angeles with his parents, where he attended high school and enrolled in classes at the Chouinard Art Institute. He served in the United States Navy's Office of Strategic Services (O.S.S.) Office of Research and Inventions in New York City from 1945 to 1946 during the eve of World War II. Gas, Inspector Palmu! (original Finnish title: ''Kaasua, komisario Palmu!'') is a 1961 Finnish crime movie directed by Matti Kassila. It is a sequel to Inspector Palmu's Mistake and is followed by The Stars Will Tell, Inspector Palmu. The main cast of actors is the same as that of the first though some actors such as Elina Salo, Pentti Siimes and Aino Mantsas play different characters, It is based on the first Inspector Palmu novel '' Who Murdered Mrs. Skrof?'' (''Kuka murhasi rouva Skrofin?'') by Mika Waltari but was the second one filmed, after '' Inspector Palmu's Mistake''. Unlike the first film it was produced by Fennada-Filmi. Fenno-Filmi
Fenno-Filmi was a Finnish film production company. The company was founded by film directors Yrjö Norta and Theodor Luts in 1942. Luts and Erkki Uotila were the co-directors of the first Fenno-Filmi production ''Salainen ase'' which premiered on 3 January 1943. ''Erehtyneet sydämet'' was released in April 1944, with Uotila and Eero Leväluoma sharing the director's credits. Later that year, Yrjö Norta directed a film ''Hiipivä vaara''. Norta directed five of Fenno-Filmi's 18 films. Roland af Hällström made his first Fenno-Filmi effort ''Houkutuslintu'' in 1946. He soon became the head director for the company, a position which he later kept in Fennada-Filmi as well. Adams Filmi Oy (previously Adamsin Filmitoimisto) was a Finnish film production company. Founded in 1912 by Abel Adams (1879–1938), the company was later merged with Fenno-Filmi which eventually became Fennada-Filmi. The Finnish Broadcasting Company bought Fennada-Filmi in 1982. In 1986, Adams Filmi ceased to exist when it merged with O.Y. Kinosto and Ky Kino Savoy to form Finnkino. After Abel Adams suddenly died in 1938, his wife became the head of the company. Their daughter Felicia Adams took over the charge in 1958. ''The Witch'' ( fi, Noita palaa elämään) is a 1952 Finnish horror film directed by Roland af Hällstrom and produced by Mauno Mäkelä. The film is based on Mika Waltari's 1947 play of the same name. Premise The film begins with swamp digging archaeologists who find a naked girl buried in the mud hundreds of years ago as a witch. The resurrection of the girl named Birgit evokes horror, unrest, and passions on the local manor milieu; with her enchantment, the girl gets the local men in her traps and makes them a threat to each other. Cast Controversy The film is considered to be one of the first Finnish horror movies, along with '' Old Baron of Rautakylä'' (1923), ''Curses of the Witch'' (1927), ''Linnaisten vihreä kamari'' (1945) and ''The White Reindeer'' (1952).
