The team sabre competition consisted of a three-round single-elimination bracket with a bronze medal match between the two semifinal losers and classification semifinals and finals for 5th to 8th places. Teams consist of three members each. Matches consist of nine bouts, with every fencer on one team facing each fencer on the other team. The sabre (US English: ''saber'', both pronounced ) is one of the three disciplines of modern fencing. Áron Szilágyi (; born 14 January 1990) is a Hungarian right-handed sabre fencer. Szilágyi is a 2018 team European champion, 2015 individual European champion, 2007 team world champion, and 2022 individual world champion. A four-time Olympian, Szilágyi is a three-time individual Olympic champion and 2021 team Olympic bronze medalist. Zsolt Nemcsik (born 15 August 1977 in Budapest) is a Hungarian sabre fencer. He competed at three Olympic Games. Nemcsik's two greatest accomplishments is winning the silver medal in the 2004 Olympic Games after losing to Aldo Montano in the final, and also winning the gold medal in the 2007 World Fencing Championships after beating France in the final.
